Drown

I was struggling to stay afloat,
Slowly sinking down.
I was splashing in the water,
Not wanting to drown.

I don't want my eyes to open,
So I keep them shut tight.
I don't want to lose,
I need to win this fight.

I feel myself sink,
Deeper in the sea.
I feel the overwhelming darkness,
Slowly take over me.

I open my eyes,
My back against the wall.
My breathing evens out,
And no more tears fall.

I no longer feel stuck,
Though I was never in the sea.
I no longer care about the thoughts,
That tried to drown me.
