Fuming, she came at me again, but I easily blocked her punch. I didn’t let go of her hand this time, though.
“Try to hit me one more time, and I swear I’m going to slap you so hard that you won’t remember your name for a while afterwards…” I let go of her arm and added, “Now stop wasting my time and tell me what you have to tell me…”
“Don’t think you’re going to win that war…” She seethed. “I’m going to break you and I’m going to make sure that once I’m done with you, you will never be able to get back up again…”
She tried to slap me this time, so I lost it.
“What the hell are you all about?!” I shouted. “What war?!”
“Don’t you dare pretend you didn’t do anything!” She spat.
“WHAT. THE. HELL. AM. I. SUPPOSED. TO. HAVE. DONE. TO. YOU?!” I yelled. She visibly shrank back and seemed about to run for it but I tightened my hold on her wrist.
“You knew I liked him, didn’t you?” She started crying. “That’s why you chose him.” She sniffled. “Well done!” She cried out.
I didn’t have a clue about what she was talking about. I only knew one thing. Alex and Greyson hadn’t listened to me and they had apparently hit hard.
“You’ve fallen for him, haven’t you?!” She sounded defeated. “That’s why I asked him to stay away from you…He’s mine, always has been, always will be…”
Luke, I thought. She’s talking about him…
“So you found my weakness…” She muttered. “How did you even know I’d always liked him?”
Is she talking about Ryan?
“Ryan?” I muttered, as understanding finally downed on me.
“Obviously!” She rolled her eyes. “How did you get him to play along with your plan?” She asked. “He’s always shown nothing but disgust each and every single time I approached him.”
Wow, so she’d had an unrequited crush on Ryan for years. No wonder she got mad when she saw us together at the party…
“It was a perfect plan, actually.” I could see the pain in her eyes. “I was so happy when he came to talk to me…”
No freaking way! Nice double revenge, Pretty boy.
“Almost ecstatic when he asked me out…” Angry tears were streaking her cheeks. “It was such a perfect night…”
A knot formed in my stomach at her use of the word “Perfect”. I started clenching and unclenching my free hand.
“What did he do to you?” I could hear my heart thumping in my chest.
“As if you don’t already know… You instigated the whole plan!” She snapped.
I squeezed her wrist.
“What did he freaking do to you?!” I repeated.
“But…”
That’s when she finally realized that I had nothing to do with it. She started shaking uncontrollably.
“We had sex, many times, all night long…” She muttered. “He told me he loved me right before we fell asleep…” She closed her eyes at the painful memories. “There were post-it notes everywhere around me when I woke up.” She hiccupped. “Insults, threats…”
“Threats?” I repeated.
“He filmed everything…” She whispered.
I dropped her hand, feeling suddenly sick to my stomach, and she let herself fall to the floor.
