Hermione quickly scrambled to her feet and jumped away from Ron. She could feel her face burning, and for some reason Ron had gone red as well. She turned to find herself in the what she could only presume was the Burrow's lounge. Nothing in the room seemed to be straight and almost everything seemed to be red, yellow or orange, but that made the whole place seem warm and cosy

She then noticed that the rest of the Weasley's were also in the lounge. She greeted Ron's little sister and Hermione's friend Ginny warmly, while Mr Weasley appeared out of the fire behind her and walked out of the door. She greeted Ron's elder brothers, Fred and George, identical as ever, before they went off upstairs. Mrs Weasley hugged Hermione as well, before following Fred and George with a suspicious look on her face

Hermione turned to the other two boys in the room. She assumed that they were Ron's elder brothers, Charlie and Bill. Charlie was shorter than Ron, and looked sturdier. His hair was shorter as well, and he had blisters and burns down his arms. This didn't surprise Hermione. She knew that Charlie worked in Romania, studying dragons

What did surprise her was the eldest Weasley brother's appearance. All that Hermione knew about Bill was that he had been a Head Boy and that he worked for Gringotts bank as a curse breaker, so Hermione had assumed that he would be similar to Percy Weasley, stuck up and proud. However, if his appearance was anything to go by, he was nothing like that. His flaming red hair was very long and tied up in a ponytail, and one of his ears was pierced, with a dragon tooth dangling of it. He was wearing a purple Weird Sisters t-shirt and old jeans, as well as dragon hide boots on his feet. Bill grinned at the look of shock on Hermione's face and shook her hand, followed by Charlie, who immediately challenged Bill to a game of Gobstones, a game similar to marbles, except the marbles squirted foul smelling liquid at you if it was knocked out if the ring

Hermione glanced round and noticed that two of the people that she had expected to be there weren't
"Where's Percy?" she asked Ginny. The second eldest Weasley brother had graduated from Hogwarts the previous year and Ron had told her via letters that he had started work in the Ministry of Magic recently
"Probably upstairs doing some report or another" said Ginny "I wouldn't ask about it. Everything Percy does nowadays is boring"
The two girls grinned at each other. Percy had always been boring
"And where's Harry?" Hermione asked "wasn't he coming today too?"
Ginny smirked knowingly, taking Hermione by surprise
"He's coming tomorrow. Ron wanted you to come a day early" she said. Hermione's mind went blank with shock, which was broken by a shriek from behind her
"Tuck your shirt in! And wash your hair!"
Hermione jumped and turned to see Ron scowling at the large mirror on the wall, furtively tucking his shirt in

The mirror turned out not to be the only interesting thing inside the Burrow. As Ron and Ginny took Hermione on a tour of the house, she found all kinds of interesting things. She found self cleaning pots and pans and Ron informed her that the odd groaning noise was their ghoul. But the most interesting thing by far was the clock she found on the wall. There were nine hands, each one engraved with the name of one of the Weasley's. Also, instead of the time, around the edge were words like school, travelling, lost and prison. Currently, every hand was pointing to home. Hermione was very glad that none of them were pointing to where the twelve was, which read mortal peril.

Unfortunately, the tour was cut short when they passed the open door to Fred and George's room and saw Mrs Weasley holding up a long piece of parchment, looking furious
"Let's go and play Quidditch outside, shall we?" said Ginny
"Yeah" said Ron "coming, Hermione?"
Hermione nodded, and they all ran for it. They just got out of the house and shut the door before they heard the shouting begin

"What do you think was on that parchment?" said Hermione as they passed a chicken coop
"Probably a new order form for Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes" said Ron
"What's that?" asked Hermione. Ron and Ginny laughed
"The joke shop Fred and George are planning on opening" said Ginny "they've been inventing stuff all summer, until mum found out about it and some of the stuff was quite... dangerous. Mum forbade them from doing it anymore"
"They're still trying to do it in secret though" said Ron
"Well, surely it's good that they're stopped, if it's dangerous!" said Hermione
"Sometimes, Hermione, you're no fun" said Ginny with a grin "what's life without a little risk? Besides, even a puppy's dangerous if you provoke it"

They reached the Quidditch pitch, which was a lot smaller than the one at Hogwarts. Ron was eager to let Hermione join in, but within five seconds of her just sitting on George's broom she had fallen off and landing flat on her face in the mud, and had to go back to the house to clean herself off. When she got back, Ron landed and asked if she wanted to continue, but she politely refused
"You've still got dirt on your face, you know" said Ron, brushing dirt off her cheek. Hermione felt herself going red again. She glanced up at Ginny, who was once again wearing that knowing smirk

Hermione watched Ron and Ginny play Quidditch until Mrs Weasley called them inside for dinner. As both Hermione's parents worked, they generally had takeaways for dinner, so Hermione had never really had home cooked food. It was one of the best things she had ever tasted, as she was very quick to tell Mrs Weasley, who found it hard to conceal get smile as she replied. It was at dinner that Hermione first saw Percy, who had indeed been shut in his room all day. He greeted Hermione pompously, before dragging his father into a discussion about work

After dinner, Hermione all the Weasley's except Percy went into the lounge
"Hermione, why don't you find your school list so I can get your school things while you're at the world cup?" said Mrs Weasley "there might not be time afterwards"
Hermione rummaged in her jumper pockets until she found the list, which she had received the day previously and was yet to look at. Mrs Weasley scanned the list before her eyes stopped on one particular item
"Hermione, dear, what's your favourite colour?" asked Mrs Weasley. Hermione was rather taken aback
"Lilac" she said "why?"
"It says that you need dress robes this year" said Mrs Weasley, looking at Hermione critically "I don't think lilac would suit you" she added, almost to herself
"My mum says I look good in blue" said Hermione "but why do I need dress robes?"
"I think you will find out when you get back to Hogwarts" said Mrs Weasley "now I think we should all go to bed"
She said the last bit to everyone in the room, and everyone else agreed and started getting up. Hermione stayed where she was. She'd just realised that she had no idea where she was sleeping
"You'll be sleeping in Ginny's room, my dear" said Mrs Weasley, answering her unspoken question " Ginny, why don't you show Hermione where your room is?"
Ginny smiled
"Ok. Come on, Hermione"

Ginny's room was up several flights of stairs. It was quite small, but two beds could fit in it quite easily. There were several posters on the wall. A couple were of the wizarding band the Weird Sisters, and the rest were of the same seven witches, all dressed in dark green robes with a talon on the front
"Your Quidditch team?" Hermione asked, gesturing to one of the posters
"Yep" said Ginny with a grin "the Holyhead Harpies. The only all-witch team in Britain"

They both got changed and got into bed. Ginny was about to turn off the light when she spoke again
"So, I suppose you're glad to see Ron again?"
Hermione looked at her. That knowing smirk was getting really annoying
"I suppose, why?"
she felt herself going red. Why did she have to blush now? Ginny grinned
"Well" she said, lowering her voice conspiratorially "let's just say it's not a coincidence that you came a day before Harry"
And with that, she turned off the light, leaving Hermione to her very confused thoughts

Um, hi!

I've never been very good at authors notes

Just so you know, I probably won't be able to publish chapters weekly anymore, what with chapters getting longer and school work getting more time consuming

Expect one every other week!

Very sorry,
Luna
