REHASHING THE PAST

Part 5

After a few days Klayton went to talk to the lawyer but Criss went with him for support. As they waited in the office Klayton was pacing back and forth. "Klayton relax before you wear out the carpet in here" he stated. "I feel like I want to run and never come back" Klayton said sitting down. "That would be hard I had you lo jacked so I can find you even if you're eight feet under ground" Criss joked which made Klayton laugh. "Thanks I needed the laugh". "Any time I got a million of them". "Good morning Klayton please come in. You too Christopher" Sarah remarked

They both walked in and sat down. "Well I read over the transcripts from the original trial and if the lawyer didn't screw up this criminal would of not gotten this appeal". "So what happens now?" Criss asked. "Well we went over some of the notes and stuff that weren't damaged" the lawyer stated. "I forgot during Hurricane Sandy there was some flooding in the police station's basement" Criss said. "Right Christopher and some of the witnesses have moved away or have passed away" she replied.

"I wish my father died"Klayton mumbled. "Now Klayton I want you to tell me what you saw that day twenty years ago". "I had been out and decided to come home since I knew my father would be working-"he remembered.  "Go on". I-I-got there I saw my father's car and that worried me because Amanda was only thirteen and god knows what my father would do. I-I-opened the door-". "Go on Klayton what did you see when you walked in".

"I-I-can't breath I can't breath". Criss got up and went over to his friend as the lawyer got some water. "Take it easy take some deep breaths and relax". "It's-not-helping" he replied gasping. "Call 911 he's having panic attack!!" Criss called out. When the ambulance packed up Klayton Criss told him he meet him at the hospital. "I've never seen someone have a panic attack like that he seemed paraylzed".

"I don't know if it's in your notes but the man who standing trial is Klayton's father he and his sister went through hell after their mother died. Klayton told me that he took the brunt of the beating to keep his sister safe some times. The next time we see each other keep that in mind" and Criss left.

When Criss finally got home his mother inquired where Klayton is. "Hospital he had a panic attack so they're keeping him over night for observation. Mom I don't know if Klayton is ready to relive this mess again"Criss replied rubbing his eyes. "Christopher we all know what his father did to him I'm surprise he didn't kill himself" Dimitra stated.

"He tried mom. I went over to his apartment to make sure he was all right and I found him in a corner with his wrist slashed. They told me if I didn't come over he would of died" Criss remarked. "Why didn't you tell us?" she asked. "I told dad but he told me to keep it between him and me". "Oh Christopher" and gave her son a hug.
