The main purpose of this novel was to show that evil doesn't fit an archetype. I tried to provide clues before the halfway reveal that Orpheus wasn't a reliable narrator (did you pick up on any??), and that he as a character doesn't believe himself to be a bad person. Whereas really, he is the villain of the story. He has a selfish viewpoint of the world, illness aside. All through the writing process, I had Hannah in my head as my heroine.
Every year I write a short novel to accompany my WIP, when my writing block gets in the way. So I'm pretty pleased how this has turned out – it's quite different from the stuff I usually write.
Do you have any other thoughts of theories? Some aspects are still open to interpretation, remembering that Orpheus chooses what parts to share with the reader. Either way, I hope you've enjoyed the read xx
