Emily's Pov

"Come on, Emily. You convinced me only to buy you chicken nuggets, so now you at least have to eat them," Luke said.

I looked down at the nuggets on the plate and shook my head. "I-I have to watch my figure," I mumbled, hoping that he wouldn't hear, but unfortunately, he did.

"I guess your right. You probably don't want to get fatter than you already are," he said, and my breath got caught in my throat.

I looked up at Luke with tears brimming my eyes. "Emily, I'm just joking. You don't have to watch you figure you're perfect the way you are," he said, but I only shook my head and got up from the booth and made my way over to the door and walked out.

"Emily," I heard Luke yell, but I just ignored it and kept walking down the sidewalk.

Without looking to see if any cars are coming, I just walked across the street. Only when I got in the middle, I heard a car honking.

My head snapped in the direction the honking came, and my eyes widened.

Just when the car was about to run me over, I was tackled out of the way.

I landed on my back with a loud thump, and the person who tackled me fell on top of me.

I looked up at the person, and to my surprise, it was Luke. He looked down at me. His eyes were staring deep into mine.

Suddenly Luke started to lean in. His eyes fluttered closed as he kept coming closer and closer.

I quickly snapped out of it, and before his lips found mine, I rolled him off of me and stood up.

I fixed my shirt and dusted off my pants.

I looked at Luke, and he was already standing and looking at me. "What the hell were you trying to do? Kill yourself? Or are you just so stupid to stand still in the middle of the fucking road?" He snapped, and I winced at the tone of his voice.

I pushed past him and started walking back home. Geez, this walk is going to take forever. That's the bad part about living in a secluded area.

Luke's Pov.

I've been sitting on the couch for almost two hours now, and Emily still isn't here.

Maybe I was a little too harsh on her. I have to admit if I was in the street and a car was about to run over me, I would also freeze from shock.

I seriously have to apologize for that. But why did she make such a big deal when I made that joke about being fat? It WAS just a joke.

I heard the front door shut, and I quickly sat straight up on the couch. I looked behind me to see who it was, and to my surprise, it was Emily.

Her head lifted a little, and she looked me straight in the eye before turning her gaze to the floor and heading upstairs.

Emily's Pov

I've been in my room for about half an hour now, just staring up at the ceiling. The first five minutes I was in my bathroom with my razor in my hand ready to do the thing I've always said I wouldn't do.

These past few days, I've been thinking about cutting, but I always talk myself out of it.

"Emily?" I heard my mother's soft voice from behind the door. I got up from my bed and walked over to the door and opened it up to reveal my mom with a sad smile on her face.

It's weird. Every time she looks at me, there's always a sad smile on her face. Maybe I have to start changing that.

"We are all going to that new fancy restaurant that just opened up. Do you want to come?" She asked with hope filling her eyes.

I took a deep breath and pulled my mother into the biggest hug I've ever given her. She didn't even hesitate before she hugged back.

"I would love to," I whispered as I pulled back. I looked at her, and I immediately saw the tears running down her cheeks.

*****

After about two hours I've finally finished. I'm wearing a dress with nice shoes, and it only took me like thirty minutes to do my hair.

I sighed as I looked at myself. I slowly made my way over to my door and stepped out.
