+Author's note

Hi guys! It'a been a long time. I honestly just quit writing because I felt like I had grown out of it, but I decided to come back to provide some entertainment for you during quarantine. Stay safe, stay indoors and keep strong. Here's one for you guys!

Mundy wasn't sure how he got roped into all this. Taking a drag of his cigarette, he flicked the butt into the sand, staring up at the clear blue sky.

Pulling the door out, he hopped right into his van, slaming the door harder than he meant to and began to drive off into the dessert.

Mick Mundy was known as a cold ruthless assassin among his foes, and an even colder lover to the many wails of broken hearted women he left behind.

It wasn't like he meant to, he thought to himself as he flicked the bobble headed toy. The head bounced comically as if to mock the words of his thoughts, to which he stared coldly at with his steely eyes.

He just didn't know a damn thing about how to please his lovers. Too cold they said, too aloof, too quiet and too uncaring. Too much of this or that or not enough of something.

His head was swimming with so many unspoken rules. Why were there so many damned rules about going about with people anyways? He was plently good enough in bed, wasn't that enough? Apparently not, because they were constantly complaining about the cold.

He grimaced, he wondered if you felt the same.

It was just a day like this morning, he was taking a drag before he was off on another mission from the administrator when he saw you standing in front of him, mumbling a small hi.

Mundy hadn't remembered the rest, but day after day before he was heading out from the base, it became sort of a ritual to see your face look up at him, still sleepy from the dawn, but willing to greet him through bleary eyes.

Mundy would narrow his eyes at you, puffs of smoke leaving his mouth. Watching your still sleepy self standing before him.
So you were interested. He could see that clearly enough. And you weren't that bad to look at either, as he eyed you up and down.

"D'ya want ta step inside for a cuppa?"

He remembered how you blushed, as you caught on to his nuance. You slowly nodded and stepped inside for a cup of coffee that would soon be forgotten.

During that point, Mundy had honestly been fed up with his failed relationships. He had gotten used to his lovers crying and throwing their things at him as they left crying from his camper, and he knew you wouldn't be any different.

He woke up, hair sticking in all sorts of directions when he saw you snoring softly, arms wrapped around his waist.

He raised an eyebrow, so you didn't leave after all that. Even when he had deliberately withheld any affectionate gestures. He made it sure that last nights events had no sentimental meaning to him.

Yet you stayed, still wrapped around him.

Oh bugger, he scratched his head. Another heart for him to break he supposed.

Time went on, and your weekly meet ups in his camper soon turned daily, and he couldn't help but notice how you would slowly inch your way into his life.

It started with you holding his hand. He froze but didn't stop you. You held his hand as he merely stood in place, not sure how to  respond. He said nothing while you smiled up at him.

He never stopped your advances but also never reciprocated. He didn't mind your coming closer but he knew he wouldn't be able to provide the warmth you needed, just like the countless others had told him.

Yet though your times together were often wordless, it seemed you felt more and more at ease, and he became more and more anxious at this new revelation.

You didn't complain, you never nagged, you never demanded any affection or begged for anything. You quietly enjoyed his presence without any demands, and that terrified him.

This new fact, that a person so tender and loving as you are could love such a stiff cold man like him, just the way he was set him on the edge.

Why? Why did you like him? It wasn't like he made any romantic gestures like the frenchman on base, or had a certain charm like the scottish cyclops he knew as his friend. What made you so drawn to him when he was so unyielding?

It almost drove him mad to find you kissing his neck as his breath hitched, he couldn't help but give out a breathless question of why you like him so, to have you simply answer, "Because I do"

Nothing drove you away, and the longer you stayed the more Mundy found himself pining for you.

Yes you were close, yes you could be tucked into his torso, but the more warmth he felt from you the further he felt.

Figures, he sucked his teeth. The moment he finds someone he finally loves, he forgets how to show affection, Mundy you bloody idiot.

What if he losed you? What if you became like the others and left him due to his aloof nature?

He would stiffly reach out and awkwardly pat you on the back when you embraced, trying to show how he cared. Your giggles at his awkward advances had him stiffen up even more. Just how did you make it look so simple?

You would merely take his face in your hands and kiss every inch. His face, already reddened by the sun, would be a shade of dark red by the time your lips finished their traces around his cheek.

It was another night, and you peacefully tucked into his torso, your chest rising softly as you slept on.

Mundy quietly watched you sleep, idly playing with your hair as he delicately touched your face. He couldn't help but wonder how you still stayed with him all this time.

"Don't know wot ya see in me love.. Oi'm a cold man an don't see 'ow tha's enough for ya.. But Oi promise tha Oi'm tryin' for ya"

He didn't know what you saw in him, but he thanked God for whatever was keeping you here with him.
