Trust

"Jump I'll catch you," when he sees me hesitating he says, "Trust me." How do I know I can trust him? I look at him and study my options. One I can refuse to jump and die here anyways because the rock crumbles away. I can take the risk of trusting him and if he should fail I'll die anyways. Or I can trust that he will catch me in his arms if I jump. With those options where either way I have a chance of dying I take the one where I at least have a chance of surviving. I close my eyes and decide to to take the risk and jump to him hoping that he won't let me fall and die. I hold out my arms and jump for his extended arms.

This is something that I came up with when I was thinking about what trust is. Trust is something that can be so hard to build but so easy to break. Trust is something that's hard for me to give. And I put this into perspective as well. If my life depended on trusting some stranger than I would trust the person if there's a possibility of survival.
