P.O.V.: Logan, First Person
Timeline: Present Day (later that same day)When someone walked right into my room, I just knew it was Patton.
Patton was the only one who walked into my room like it was his own - which for some reason made me... happy. Really happy.
Even though I tried to act like it didn't.
I adjusted my glasses one extra time before spinning around in my chair to face him.
Patton was as adorable as ever, a pout on his face. Still he gave me a big smile, before resorting back to the pout.
I tried to ignore how nice it felt to see that smile, that smile directed at me - even if just for couple of seconds.
"Good afternoon, Patton. How may I assist you?" I said blankly, shoving my rising feelings down before they started to show.
"SOMEBODY," Patton started dramatically (when Patton was upset, he tended to be quite dramatic - unlike Roman, who was just dramatic ALL the time). "SOMEBODY put Oatmeal Raisin Cookies in the Chocolate Chip Cookie Jar."
"Really?" I asked, interested as Patton pouted. "Oh," I said, realizing what had occurred.
"You grabbed an Oatmeal Raisin Cookie by mistake didn't you?"
Patton flopped sadly onto my bed - face first - and shoved his face in my pillow. I heard a muffled groan which could only mean my assumption was accurate.
I stayed silent for a moment, sure that Patton would start back up in a second.
"I just decided to have a cookie," Patton said, flipping over so I could hear him properly. "And I grabbed a cookie from the Chocolate Chip Cookie Jar. I hopped on the counter and took a bite and it was just - " Patton shuddered in horror and I bit the inside of my cheek, fighting back a smile.
"And you came here because...?" I asked finally. Surely, Patton had a reason.
"Can you help me figure out who did this?" Patton begged. "Pretty please?"
"Of course, Patton," I answered, getting to my feet and started walking to the door.
"Wait," Patton stumbled behind me, a clumsy ball of limbs. "Where are you going?"
"To the kitchen. That's where the cookie jars are, is it not?" I answered, continuing to make my way.
"Oh! Okay!" Patton said excitedly, following close behind me.
I shut my door and teleported to the kitchen, right in front of the several cookie jars.
All lined up, several cookie jars along the counter.
Usually, the order of the cookie jars is Chocolate Chip, Sugar, Peanut butter, Double Chocolate. However, it appeared that the Chocolate Chip Cookie Jar and the Oatmeal Raisin were switched. Therefore, it indeed did appear as though the Chocolate Chip Cookie Jar was filled with Oatmeal Raisin Cookies for anyone who didn't read the label.
"Patton?" I asked gesturing to the jars. "Did you actually look at the label, or did you just pick from the jar that was in the Chocolate Chip Cookie Jar's usually placement?"
Patton's mouth opened and closed shyly, and a pink blush appeared on his cheeks.
"And is there any chance that when you filled then last, you might've switched the jars accidently?"
Patton flushed bright red, embarrassed.
"Um.. Maybe?"
I fought to keep my smile in. If only it was this easy to solve...other problems. "No problem, Patton. Besides," I continued, "The Chocolate Chip Cookie Jar is empty anyway."
"Oh no!" Patton said worriedly. "I have to make another batch right now!" Patton proclaimed, starting to grab all the things he needed.
I started to walked away, thinking my job was done when I heard a voice.
"Um... Logan?"
"Yes, Patton?" I answered, turning back towards Patton, trying not to sound as eager as I felt.
There was an odd moment of silence before Patton spoke, like he was bracing himself.
"Dyuwtthpmebkcks?"
I blinked, struggling to comprehend. He said it so fast "Pardon?"
Patton squirmed and I felt guilty for making him repeat himself, but I really had no idea.
"I mean if you don't want to I totally understand -"
"No, I meant what did you say? I missed it," I answered lamely.
Patton took a deep breath, bracing himself again, "Do you - uh - want to help me bake some cookies?"
I was caught off-guard. Sure, I'm not sure what I thought he said, but I wasn't expecting anything close to that.
"Of course," I said, walking back over. Patton smiled wide and I couldn't help smiling back.
Wait - what was I thinking? There's no way I could be around Patton this long without - oh geez. This was going to be...
Interesting.
Maybe I've built up a sort of... tolerance. Yeah. Maybe I'm stressing out over nothing. Maybe it's stopped. I mean, it hasn't happened in a while... maybe it's... worn... off?
Maybe that's too many maybe's.
Oh well. I can't back out now...
