His Last Thoughts

Sounds of horses' hooves stomped the ground,
Armored warriors can be found,

Stationed troops at the barren land,
Each with a weapon on their hand.

The flags were raised in highest peak,
Both sides were ready for a killing streak.

The generals gestured their commands,
All warriors charged with dominance!

The adrenaline pumped in their blood.
Their battle cries reached the heaven's clouds.

The soil was painted by crimson blood,
Neighing sounds from the fallen studs.

Amongst the sea of silver hue,
Quickly diminished into few,

Whilst, some were falling limply dead,
A man prayed a hopeful stead.

He wished a life with none of these,
Not claiming lives for so called 'peace'.

What good were brought by wealth and honor?
When all they did is kill and murder.

Clanking of blades could be heard,
As he confronted the enemy's herd.

He gripped his blood tainted sword,
He blamed these all to the feudal lords.

Who pompously treated their lives as ants,
With all their nagged and constant rants,

But, what could a poor man like him do?
When he needed money to eat a stew.

Each war he prayed he would survive,
To be with his wife and little Clive.

Right now, he knew it was silly wish,
Most of them already perished.

His restless mind was in a trance.
The cannon fired their defensive stance.

The blasted debris hit his chest,
His insides were in a mess.

He couldn't stand, he couldn't flee,
His mind buzzed in reverie.

His amputated legs were numb,
He gazed the bronze ring on his thumb.

He couldn't help but cursed this cruel fate,
He looked above with pleaded faith.

'Oh, Almighty God, Take care of the two
Please do not let them drown in any woe.'

Don't hate me My Darling Ana,
Take care of Clive, my little fella.

He hope he had another chance,
Even just a single glance.

How good it is to get a last embrace,
A peck on her lips, a kiss on his face.

He couldn't keep his consciousness,
He bid farewell with loneliness.

The last thoughts before he died in vain,
He would be in a world where peace will reign.
