Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers were an American Rock Band from Gainesville, Florida. Formed in 1976, The Band originally comprised Tom Petty (Vocals and Guitar), Mike Campbell (Guitar), Ron Blair (Bass), Stan Lynch (Drums) and Benmont Tench (Keyboards.) In 1981, Ron left The Band. The Band are best-known for their hit singles: "American Girl," "Breakdown," "The Waiting," "Learning To Fly," "Refugee" and, Mary Jane's Last Dance." They were the first old Band I ever heard. I take my hat off to you, Mr. Petty for your musically-seductive hippie voice. Tom Petty also recently died on The 2nd Of October, 2017 and was born on The 20th Of October in 1950. Farewell, Thomas Earl Petty (1950 - 2017.)
