I never realised how much I still had to lose, even after everything I already had. My grief had blinded me from really noticing, but in that moment it was all too clear to me. My friends didn't know what was coming, but I did, that knowledge too painful to ignore.
The monster stood before me, his glowing green eyes coldly victorious as that cruel, sinister smile spread over his pale lips. The fear I felt was too real, too tangible as I truly came to understand what he had just said to me.
In that moment I felt an overwhelming warmth and I looked down at my chest. The stone in the core of my pendant was pulsating with violet light, heat radiating out from its centre across my skin and clothing.
I looked to the Shadow Lord, wide eyed as he smirked and began to laugh. I knew what was coming, turning towards my friends with a sudden desperate need to rush forward and save them...
