✫ Lukas' POV ✫
SCHOOL IS NOT WHERE I WANT TO BE RIGHT NOW.
As soon as I pull up at the school with Tori's arms locked around my waist, whispers start to fill the parking lot.
Tori releases her arms from my waist and unclips her helmet from under her chin, a few gasps from students surround the parking lot. A few guys whistle using their teeth. I snake my arm around her small waist defensively.
"You okay?" Tori whispers into my ear.
"Yeah. Fine." I say, harsher than I intended.
She takes my hand and pulls me into school. She sees a door that has a sign on it that reads, Janitor's Closet.
She opens the unlocked door and pulls me in. She pulls the hood of my sweatshirt off her head. She looks so damn cute in my clothes.
"You sure?" She asks, stepping closer. She runs a finger along my arm. I jump. I'm still not used to people touching me.
Eventually, I relax as she touches my arm gently, tracing designs onto my skin.
"Yeah. I'm okay." I say.
She steps even closer, her sweet breath on my nose. She wraps her arms around my neck, swaying on the ground. I sway with her, slow dancing to no music.
She rests her head against my neck, her hair tickling my cheek. She picks her head up and kisses my lips softly. She moves to pull away, but I pull her closer, my lips moving in sync with hers. She tastes so good, a taste I've craved for the three days that I was away.
She wraps her hands around my neck, her fingers tangling into my hair. She separates her lips from mine and runs kisses down my throat. I tilt my head back, allowing it. Eventually, she stops and I kiss her lips again. I push her aggressively against the closed door, running my fingers under the clothes of mine that she's wearing. Underneath the thick material, her skin is warm and soft to the touch.
Her back arches against me and I run my fingers along her skin. "You're mine now," I say into her ear.
The late bell rings and I still can't remove myself from her curvy, warm body. She realizes this and moves away, taking my hand in hers.
"We're late to class." She says, biting her lip. Her sweet chocolate brown eyes scan over my face, her face flushed.
"You know what? Fuck school. Let's get out of here." I say, taking her hand in mine.
"What? No! I have like 4 tests today!" She says.
"So?" I ask.
"Fine. Where are we going?" She asks, following me out of the school.
"It's a surprise," I say.
A smile lights up Tori's face, her eyes shining under the newly risen sun.
She hops back onto my bike, clipping the helmet under her chin. She wraps her strong arms around my waist and we're off.
We ride to my house, she smiles again. "Home." I hear her say. I blush slightly because she has just called my house 'home'.
I park my bike and we enter my house, leaving our helmets on the seat.
"I have a surprise for you," I say, shyly.
"What?" She asks, her eyes bright and shining.
I gesture to the cabinets and she walks into my kitchen, curiosity etched throughout her gait.
She opens one cabinet and screams in delight. That's right, I bought 12 boxes of Earl Grey peppermint tea.
"Thank You!" Tori says, delighted. She runs up to me, squeezing me tight. "I love you!" She says. Then she releases me, too quickly, her cheeks red with embarrassment.
"It's okay," I say, my cheeks red too but red with warmth and happiness. She loves me!
"I, uh, I love you too...." I say.
Tori smiles widely. She hugs me again. I hug her back, her arms around my waist closing around me like walls.
Suddenly, my phone rings, ruining the moment. I take it out of my back pocket and glance at the screen, my boss' number popping up. Shit.
"I have to, uh, I have to take this," I say. Tori releases me and I walk to my room, closing the door.
"What do you want?" I ask, frustration rising in my stomach.
"That's no way to treat your boss." He replies.
"What do you want? I'm kinda busy." I say.
"Have you killed her yet?" He asks.
"Killed who?" I ask my voice only slightly above a whisper in case Tori is eavesdropping.
"Tori," He says. "My daughter."
"Um, no...." I say.
"You had one job! Find her and kill her! God, is that so hard?" My boss asks, anger in his voice.
"Yes, actually. She's my friend." I say.
"Well, friend or not, she's a threat and she must die! Kill her Lukas, now!" He orders.
"No," I say.
My boss gasps.
In my gang, no one has ever said no to him. He's much too powerful and could kill every one of us with his bare hands. We've never said no to him because we are so terrified of what he might do to us if we do.
"What did you say?" He asks, shock evident in his voice.
"I said, no." I spit angrily.
"Fine. Kill him." I hear him say distantly. In the background, I hear someone reply, "yessir."
I hear a shotgun go off, startling me.
"Do you know who was just shot?" He asks.
"No," I say.
"Your father." He says.
The phone slips from my grasp and sobs rack my body. My poor dad. When I got my own house, my dad had to move again because of his job. He had to move 100 miles away. He didn't take me with him.
I sink to the floor, drowning in an ocean of tears.
"You okay?" I hear Tori call, but she sounds so far away.
"Lukas?" She calls.
Go away. I want to say to her. But I can't speak, it's almost like my vocal cords have been closed shut.
"Lukas. Answer me!" Tori says desperately. I hear the doorknob turn but I remember locking it. She can't get in no matter how hard she may try.
"Lukas! Open the door!" She yells.
I stay on my bedroom floor, fresh tears continually falling on my cheeks. Eventually, Tori leaves me alone and I rock back and forth trying to stop the tears.
I barely knew him. He abandoned me for work, he didn't even come to my doorstep to tell me he was moving 100 miles away. Asshole. I tell myself.
Although that is all true, I can't hate him. He was my father. He was kind, gentle, and he loved me. It was me that left him, not the other way around.
I lay on my back on my bedroom floor, the cold wood pressing against my back.
