You quickened your pace down the school halls, hoping you won't be late to your next class. It was passing period, and you had to pick up a paper at the office, leaving you with not much time to get to your next class. Not once this year have you received a tardy, and you don't want to break that streak.
You only had two more turns left before reaching your destination. You took one of them, going down the main hallway. About halfway through, you glanced up at a clock that hung on the wall. You thought for sure that you'll be able to make it in time.
Just when you got your hopes high, a door was thrown open and smacked you right in the face.
You gasped, falling backwards. You landed on the floor, facing the ceiling, and held your nose.
"Oh geez! I'm so sorry!" The voice of someone apologizing came from above you. You squeezed your eyes together from a sharp pain in your nose.
When you opened your eyes, you were staring into the worried ones of Renjun, someone in your grade you have third period Chemistry with. He's also your one of the three other people at your lab table.
"Are you okay?" He asked, glancing from each of your eyes.
You grunted, sitting up. A splitting head ache started to form.
Renjun sat up straighter, too. "I didn't mean to nail you with that door, I'm really sorry." Renjun's eyebrows lowered in sincerity.
You smiled through the pain, finding his worry to be quite adorable. "It's okay." Your words were muffled by your now stuffy nose and hand covering it. "I just really need to get to my next class."
You dropped your hand so you would be able to push yourself off the ground, but froze when Renjun gasped.
"I must have thrown that door pretty hard."
"What do you mean?" You asked him, now fully standing.
"Let me take you to the nurse, it'll be my way of making it up to you."
"Renjun," you began, "I need to get to class." You impatiently tapped on your leg, looking up at the ticking clock. The bell could bring any second now.
"(Y/n), I really think you should go to the nurse."
You sighed with slight frustration.
Ding, ding, ding.
Your shoulders dropped. A sigh left you and you looked at Renjun, who still had concern written on his face. "Alright, let's go."
Renjun seemed to brighten a little bit, but he still watched you with caution, like you could fall at any second.
You honestly didn't feel that bad. Yeah, your nose felt like it was on fire, but it's nothing like you could pass out from it. Although, your nose started to run, and when it dropped into your mouth, the taste of iron and copper lingered.
"(Y/n), you're bleeding," Renjun informed the obvious.
"Really? I didn't notice the bloody taste seeping into my mouth," you joked.
Renjun didn't laugh. "If you feel light headed, please tell me."
"If I told you I was light headed, would you carry me the rest of the way?"
"Only if you meant it."
"Ah," you covered your face with your hands. "Rennie, I'm so tired. I think I'm going to collapse."
"Don't try to fool me," Renjun laughed this time. "Seriously though, if you need me to help you I can."
"Renjun, I feel fine."
"We're still going to see the nurse." Renjun held open the door to the nurses office. To your disappointment, her office was crowded.
You looked over to Renjun, feeling sorry that it would take a while. "You can leave now, I don't want to keep you waiting."
"I'm fine. As long as it can keep me away from the crazy Algebra teacher, I think I'll be fine." A smile spread on Renjun's face.
You chuckled.
The nurse finally made her way to the both of you as you sat in the waiting chairs and asked what happened.
"Well," you started, "I was walking down the hall when-"
"I accidentally opened the door too quickly and it swung in her face," Renjun finished.
The nurse was obviously trying to hold back a laugh. She handed you a wash cloth for you to wash your face with in the bathroom. She wrote Renjun a pass so he wouldn't be counted late for his class.
When you finally got the bathroom mirror, you almost flinched at the sight of yourself. The bridge of your nose was red and inflamed. Dark red blood had dried in smears around your nostrils. You gently rubbed off the blood, only wincing once when you got too close to the swollen part.
"Nothing is broken," the nurse told you, examining it when you got back. "Defiantly swelling, but that should clear up in a couple days. You might get a random nose bleed here and there from it opening up."
You thanked her, and headed to class.
After school, you headed out the back doors to walk to the library. Before getting there, you heard someone running towards the direction you were in.
"(Y/n)!"
You spun around to see Renjun slowing when he caught up to you. He took a couple of breathes before continuing. "I see you cleaned up the blood. Your nose still looks a little swollen."
"And all thanks to you." You smiled, showing you were just messing with him.
Renjun hid his face briefly in embarrassment. "Ah, I'm really sorry. Please forgive me?"
"Of course I'll forgive you," you told him. "But it would make me feel better if you came to the library with me. I have a lot of Chemistry to look over before the test, and I'm going to need your help."
Renjun smiled brightly. "Sounds like a plan."
