Into her facade

         

It's almost a 3 hour drive from Bangkok to Pattaya with the designated stops to the sweet shop to this amazing beachfront resort. We finally reached a 2 story rest house, Kim's bodyguard immediately opens the middle car door for us, then Kim strode off to the rarest part of the car. I wonder what she's doing there. When I look at her, she's already holding a bouquet of blue rose, she motioned me to follow her she then eagerly strode her way to the rest house like an excited kid who's going to see very important people for a very long time. I followed her and her bodyguards brought the packs of mango sticky rice. It caught my eye when Kim came closer to an old happy couple probably it's her mom and dad. Kim hugged them and the old woman caressed Kim's cheeks, by the looks she enjoyed the warmth of the old woman's touch and the old man messed up Kim's hair. Kim then pulls out a bouquet of blue rose from her back that's so sweet and thoughtful of her, she gave it to the old woman which in return gave her a hug and kissed on the cheek. Another girl that looks like her, I'm guessing it's her sister, immediately hug and pinch Kim's cheeks she looks so adorable, then another blonde woman about Kim's height sneak her arms around Kim's waist, she even kissed Kim on the cheek, Kim turned around and hugged the blonde woman, she even kissed her on the cheek. Kim pulled out of the hug and I heard her say Cousin! I miss you! Then the 5 of them hugged again encircling Kimhan. What an adorable sight, the family and the rest house view overlooking the ocean and Pattaya, and the blonde woman was her...cousin. Silly me, thinking something else!

Kim on her soft side melts me in a different way.

My gaze was cut short when they pull off the hug, then Kim said Mom, Dad "I'm with someone". She looks into my direction, motioned me to close. Her family shifted their look to my direction smiling. I strode my way to them and Kim introduce me them, everyone this is Aom, a colleague of mine. Aom meet my family this is my mom Clara, dad Gabriel, my older sister P'air and my cousin Denise. I smiled and greeted them, her dad offered his hand to me, P'air and Denise too. I offered my hand to her mom but instead, she hugged and thank me for coming.

"It's my pleasure Ma'am," I answered her politely.

"Mom, Dad I'll go inside to check the food. Aom, can you stay with them?" Kim with a wide smile plastered on her face.

"Sure, I'll stay with them".Aom answered back.

Then Kim went inside the rest house, her bodyguards and some house help just finished setting up the table in the garden, what an excellent view, you can hear the sea breeze and the wonderful sight of Pattaya which I have never seen before.

"Aom, thank you for coming on this very special day," her mom touches my right cheek, her hand is so warm I now understand why Kim acted like a baby when her mom did that to her. It's soothing and comfortable.

"It's my pleasure, Ma'am. This is the first time that I've seen Kim very happy and with that smile of her," I answered her Mom while we strode our way to the round garden table where Kim's Dad, sister, and cousin smiled at us motioning to joined them.

"Oh, that kid I told her to refrain from frowning from time to time, it can make her age faster. From now on call me Mom and please be patient with her. This is the first time she brought someone and introduced to us. There is so much going on with her life for the past years. I know there is something in you that she sees, but she just doesn't realize it till now. Take care of her and stay with her, Aom."

I'm overwhelmed by her Mom's words.

What's her past is past. What matters most is now.

Her Mom smiled and touched my hand. I'm mesmerized by the way her Mom spoke it's so calm, honest but not demanding. Then all of sudden...

"Realize, what Mom?" Kim was behind our back.
