Yay! Happy birthday to me! 🎉

AND I'm not that light irl

It was if I was a piece of paper and someone has forced me through a shredder. I had no way to fix myself.
No income, no money to eat and I couldn't ask my parents for help now- not after that tangent I went on about how they never supported me in my life choices.
I lay in the darkness, bed cold like stone. It'd had been almost a week since I lost my job. After that I didn't know what to do with myself..
I sat up groggily, wiping my eyes. I thought over my dream the words repeating themselves like a broken record
"Piece yourself together"
I was right too- I couldn't just mope around all day I had to make my own life. I didn't have time for breakfast nor the money, I had to be smart with what I ate and how much.
With a new found courage, I set out in search of whichever treasures may bestow me.
Hours passed by, my CV in one hand and a newspaper applicant sheet in the other, I searched for any discrepancies on my CV while walking down the street.
The light was slowly fading from a bright cyan dotted with clouds to a deep clear marigold.
"Turned down by four jobs already...this is hopeless."

I continued to search; retail stores, bookshops, hand outs- nothing, I was ready to give up.
"One more hour" I said to myself, attempting to boost my confidence "Yeah one more..."

At that point I had just been wondering around aimlessly hoping to come across something helpful.

It had been a good 40 minutes I walked down every street, trying to investigate every nook and cranny. The sky turned an ashy version of a purple rhapsody. It was to dark to scout any longer. Trying to find my way back, I managed to lose my way. I took out my phone planning to use google maps

"Damn it, no service." I continued to walk, looking for any signs to follow.

"Oh, Miss! Miss!" I projected my voice loud enough to guarantee she could hear me. Apparently my shouting wasn't loud enough as she seemed not to take notice, so I began to lightly jog up to her.

I greeted her warmly before asking for some directions.

"Hi, can you help me? I need to find my way home- but I actually don't know where I am, could you tell me?

"Okay- no problem follow me." Her voice was a little rough but nevertheless still friendly and welcoming.

She lead the way and seemed like she knew where she was going, so I felt safe travelling with her. I asked questions of our whereabouts, and learned that I had apparently wondered into the unsafe part outside of the town.

"So what type of crimes occur around here?"

"You know the usual, gun fights, knife crimes, gang activity- its pretty common around this area."

"Its pretty sad that you can talk about it so casually" I commented does type of thing, happen often around you?"

She ran her hand through her black hair the frosted pink tips lit up underneath the street, brown eyes furrowed in concentration as if deciding how much she wanted to tell me.

"I guess you could put it that way- my family happens to fall into that type of stuff, I got used to it and never really thought of it as sad."

"I think it's sad how your family gets injured during these crimes."

For a second she gave me a look one that I couldn't decipher

As we spoke she led me down a narrow dimly lit street

"We're close to the nearest bus station, it's just through this street..." She looked around then pointed to a bench backed up against a wall next to an alleyway "The pole got removed after a huge fight, that almost got some guy impaled."

"Oh my god- really?!" I was always squeamish when it came to blood and gore, it made me feel sick and scared at the fact if  I turned away something similar would happen to me.

I sat down waiting for my guide to take a seat next to me though, she must've seen my expectant and said something about having to meet with her brother.

"Thank you for showing me the way..." I paused waiting for her to tell me to introduce herself.

"Leah" she answered " And no problem for helping..." she trailed off sounding disheartened "well I'll uh- I'll see you later." And with that she was gone.

It was nice to meet someone so friendly, in a place like this.

I checked through my phone while I waited- the signal hadn't gotten any better so I decided to bide my time by looking through the pictures of job applications I took a screenshot of, I really hoped I didn't have to wait any longer to be employed.

Footsteps approached me- echoing in the silent night, then before I knew it my face was cupped into rough, masculine hands- this sudden movement caused me to instinctively scream.

But before I could the hand clasped over my mouth. I closed my eyes afraid of what I would see if they were open.

My body began panicking I tried clawing at his hand, he laughed at my futile attempts. His chuckle was low and empty sending a chill  down my spine.

I was terrified, desperate to be released from his grip- my nails sinking in his flesh, it must've worked because his hand withdrew as he held hand to his mouth.

"I'll make you pay for that, you little bitch!" His voice went cold

I attempted to run before he could do anything more to harm me. I barely got a start before I was grabbed by the nape of my shirt.

"You're gonna see what happens- when you disrespect your superiors."

I didn't get a chance to ask what he meant before being backhanded with a power that left me paralysed and on the  floor.

So much for woman rights- ass.

Tears began to fall as I felt brute force pound into my stomach. My mouth felt full and metallic. I was left sprawled on my back as my body fell to the ground.

I heard a distorted yell-an unrecognisable one. My head- ugh
It only got louder after several gun shots were fire only few made contact with their target. Only to be retaliated by the withdrawal of a knife from the newcomer.

Despite what was happening, my eyes drifted closed at the sight of blood being spilled, physically unable to stay open.
