Windpaw and Snowpaw walked out of the camp. They went near twoleg place for Snowpaw's first hunt. "So to hunt you have to sniff the air to pick up the scent of prey, follow the scent, then drop into a hunter's crouch and pounce on the prey and kill it" Windpaw meowed. "Uh ok..." Snow mewed. "I'll demonstrate" Windpaw meowed.
Windpaw sniffed the air. She scented mouse. She followed the scent till she saw the mouse and dropped into a crouch. Windpaw didn't make any noise at all to disturb the mouse. She was light on her paws. When Windpaw was close enough she pounced on the mouse and dug her teeth into the mouse's neck and killed it. She picked it up and dropped it next to Snowpaw. "That's how you hunt" Windpaw meowed, sounding satisfied.
Snowpaw nodded and sniffed the air. She scented rabbit. She followed the scent. "For a rabbit you have to be really quick" Windpaw mewed. Snowpaw nodded and continued following the rabbit's scent. When she she saw the rabbit she dropped into a crouch. When she was close enough she pounced onto the rabbit and killed it with one swift blow.
"Nice first kill!" Windpaw praised. "Thanks" Snowpaw said as she picked up the rabbit and dropped it next to the mouse "After you catch prey your supposed to bury it so nothing takes it and come back and get it when your done hunting" Windpaw explained. Snowpaw nodded then picked up the rabbit and the mouse and buried it under earth.
Snowpaw saw a crow and pounced on it. She killed it and buried it with the rest under earth. By the end of the day Snowpaw had caught three mice, one squirrel, one crow, two rabbits, and four voles. Windpaw had caught six mice, (she mainly found mice and voles) four voles, and one squirrel.
They brought the twenty-two pieces of fresh kill back to camp then took a piece for themselves. "That was fun" Snowpaw mewed. "Ya" Windpaw replied. Oakpaw and Stormpaw walked over to the two apprentices.
"Hi" Oakpaw meowed.
"Hey. Where's Birchpaw?" Snowpaw asked. "
"Still in the Medicine Cat's den"
"Oh" Windpaw and Stormpaw had walked to the Medicine Cat's den with fresh kill. Roseheart and Shadowclaw had walked over to Oakpaw and Snowpaw. "We're gonna go train today" Roseheart mewed. Oakpaw nodded. "We're gonna train with Roseheart" Shadowclaw said with a harsh tone of voice. Snowpaw nodded and the four cats walked out of the camp.
