Race to the finish Line

Chapter one

Katherine is a 18 year old women. She has blond hair and blue eyes. She also has a brother named Coby. Coby is 16 years old; brown hair and blue eyes. Katherine is a young astronomer in college. Coby is in his second year of high school and wants to be an engineer like his father was. Katherine and Coby share the responsibility of paying the house bills for their small country side home. "Katherine?" asked Coby " Are mom and dad ever going to come back?"

"Coby, their not coming back." said Katherine

"Why not?" Asked Coby

"Do you remember the phone call that mom and dad made to us?"asked Katherine

"Yea, they said they would be here last week two years ago," Coby said frustrated.

"Mom and Dad died in a car crash on their way home," said Katherine.

Coby had the look of shock. "Why would you not tell me this!" shouted Coby.

" You were so excited," said Katherine "I didn't want to ruin that excitement for you."

Coby ran to his room and slammed his door." You have every right to be mad at me Coby." said Katherine

Katherine noticed that it was getting dark. <* I better start on dinner.*> thought Katherine

Katherine made steak and potatoes. "Coby dinner is ready!" yelled Katherine

Coby ran out of his room and sat at the table. Katherine put the food on plates and put the plates on the table.

(Time skip to the end of dinner)

Coby and Katherine got ready for bed. Coby was in bed but Katherine did some late night stargazing. Katherine saw a moving white light and thought it was odd. The white light went from West to East over the tree line of the forest before disappearing behind the trees. <* This has been going on for three weeks now. What is that ball of light?*> thought Katherine <* It also flies in the same direction every night.*>

Katherine went to bed, after she locked up the house. In the morning it was the normal routine.katherine would go to school for an hour and a half. Then Katherine would go to her work for six hours. Coby would go to his school and then go to his work. Katherine's stargazing did not go unnoticed as the group passed the night sky.

(timeskip to night)

" Captain are you sure about this?" asked a male

" Yes, I am sure Maya." said the captain

"What is our plan if they start running away?" asked Another 

" Inca, we have our back up plane." said the captain " The humans have a fight or flight response. The queen wouldn't have had us do this mission, if she didn't think we could do it."

" I guess you are right captain Aztec." Said Inca

(Time skip to morning )

" Coby we are going on a camping trip tomorrow;" said Katherine

" But it is fall break!" whined Coby

" You have school to socialize with your friends;" Said Katherine

" Fine!" whined Coby going to his room to get ready for tomorrow

(Time skip to the next day)

" Where are we going?" asked Coby

" We are going to Huntington Park in Oregon." Said Katherine

" Ok, not to far away from home" said Coby

( Timeskip to the camp ground )

Coby was setting up the tent and Katherine was gathering firewood.

From above. " Should I go and investigate the area cloaked Captain?" Asked Inca

" Sure Inca." said Aztec " Make sure we are connected to the navigation signal."

" Yes, sir." said Inca

Katherine came back with the firewood and Coby had the tents set up. "That should do it." said Katherine "Coby would you like to set up the fire, while I get the food out?"

"Sure." said Coby

<* It looks like they are just setting up camp*> thought Inca

Inca did his job and connected the GPS to his device. <*Just a few more adjustment and done.*> Thought Inca smiling

Katherine saw that the sun was setting and it was getting dark. "How much longer till dinner is ready?" asked Coby

"It just got done cooking;" said Katherine

(Timeskip to when Katherine and Coby are done eating)

Katherine and Coby are in their tent asleep. "I can't wait to get this mission over with." Said Maya

"Be quiet," said Aztec, " We don't want to wake them up."
"Sorry, sir." said Maya.

Inca opened the tent door and Aztec step as quiet as a mouse as he could;picked up Katherine bridal style. Aztec walked out to let Maya get Coby. They were a good thirty yards from the campsite before Katherine woke up. Katherine was surprised that she was not in the tent. She looked up to see a reptile face and hoped out of Aztecs armes. Katherine screamed causing Aztec to cover his ears and Coby to wake up in alarm. Coby looked up and saw a reptile face to. He screamed at the top of his lungs and chased after Katherine. "Don't let them get away!" shouted Aztec

All three took after the two humans but lost track of them. Katherine and Coby took shelter in a log. "What are they Katharine?" whispered Coby

"I don't know." said Katherine " They look like giant lizards. They are eight to nine feet tall."
