We finally had to gag Luca since he wouldn't shut up. He kept nagging at Dylan, and at one point, Dylan nearly pulled a gun on Luca. Luca just smirked as I tied cloth around his mouth.
"You always wished you could've done this to me, didn't you, kitten?" He chuckled before I got the gag in place. I wrinkled my nose at his insinuation and Dylan pulled me away from him.
"Don't go near him again, do you hear me?" Dylan breathed heavily as he stared into my eyes.
I shook him off, "Don't tell me what to do." I moved to the other side of the jet, sitting in a single seat and staring out the window. Luca's previous words about Dylan rang through my head as I felt him move to sit across from me.
"Bella, don't let what Luca said, get to you," he tried to get me to meet his eyes. I avoided them as we began to make our way to the runway. "There's no way your parents are alive."
"Stop saying that," I answered through clenched teeth. "And that's not the only thing he said."
"Are you talking about the Lacey thing?" Dylan lowered his voice and I turned my head toward him.
"More like the fuckboy thing," I rolled my eyes. "You don't get a nickname like AP without a reason."
"I don't want to have this conversation right now," Dylan said and I raised my eyebrows.
"Fine." I returned my attention to the outside, watching as the jet picked up speed and took off into the sky, returning us to Ace headquarters. Dylan allowed me to brood in silence, instead taking Alex's place as copilot.
"What's up with him?" Alex asked as she sat across from me. I shrugged as Levi handed Alex and I glasses of water.
Vanessa had curled up on the couch, a blanket across her legs and I saw a few stray tears fall down her face. My eyebrows puckered as I thought about her and Sheridan. Flower came and perched on the arm of my chair as I pondered.
"Hey, Flower, why's your nickname Warrior?" I decided to ask as my thoughts shifted.
Flower blushed as Alex bounced in her seat, "Can I tell the story, Flower?"
"Sure, I just don't get why everyone makes a big deal out of it," Flower said quietly as Alex prepared herself.
"Flower was caught in the crossfire of a gang shootout," Alex started and my eyes widened. "She was shot in the right shoulder, but instead of rushing away to tend to her own injury, she decided to wrap some cloth around her shoulder and move to other injured innocents. She ended up saving four people by the time the ambulance arrived."
"But, I didn't save everyone," Flower whispered and wiped a stray tear from her eye.
"You did so much for them, Warrior," Alex said. "There isn't more you could've done for them."
Alex then turned to me, "Flower was with two of her friends at the time. They both died from head wounds."
"Oh, I'm so sorry," I squeezed Flower's hand and she gave me a small smile.
"It's alright. They're together, wherever they are. That's what they always wanted," Flower sighed.
"She's the bravest of us all," Levi said, a big smile on his face.
"Thanks, Levi," Flower smiled back.
We then broke our little group, Levi moving to watch over Luca, as Alex, Flower and I joined Vanessa in taking naps. My dreams weren't pleasant, and I was glad to be awoken from landing back at Ace. Dylan returned to the cabin, untying Luca and taking him off the plane without a glance in my direction. Vanessa and Boone shared a glance as I rolled my eyes, following them off the airplane. Director was standing at the bottom, Luca standing beside her with a smirk on his face.
"Isa!" Junior yelled, running over to me. He jumped into my arms and I chuckled at his enthusiasm, even though my injuries still hurt.
"Hey, bud. Were you good while I was gone?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. He nodded with a big smile on his face.
"Miss Sara even let me stay up late watching a movie," he whispered loudly and I chuckled again. Junior's eyes strayed away from mine and locked on Luca. He instantly cowered in my arms, "Is that..."
I hugged him closer, "Don't worry, he won't hurt you anymore."
"Your dad misses you!" Luca yelled and I realized his gag had been removed. "He just wants you to come home, Aiden!"
"Leave him alone," I yelled back, glaring. Junior had started shaking in my arms. "Let's get you inside," I whispered to Junior and began walking away. Junior started to hyperventilate, so I had to put him down on the ground.
"I'm...dizzy," Junior was able to whisper.
Director hurried over, "Put your head between your knees. Slowly breath, Junior. Remember what I taught you. Breathe in through the nose, and out through the mouth." Junior followed her instructions as I watched worriedly. Junior slowly calmed down and sat up slowly to give Director a wobbly smile.
"Thanks," he whispered. I breathed a sigh of relief and looked around to see everyone but Dylan had gone. Dylan stood some distance away, his brow creased in worry. Junior caught sight of Dylan and waved him over. "Hi Dylan."
"Hey there, J," Dylan smiled and came over, kneeling beside me. "Are you doing okay?"
"I'm okay. Miss Sara's been helping me," Junior smiled again.
"Have these happened a lot?" I asked carefully and Director nodded.
"The frequency had dropped since he's been with me," Director explained. "But seeing Luca set it off again." Junior let in a sharp intake in breath at Luca's name, but he didn't have another attack.
"We'll make sure he isn't seen around you again, alright?" Dylan said, and Junior nodded. Dylan picked Junior up, putting him on his back. Within seconds, Dylan had Junior laughing as Dylan ran around. Director and I followed behind their antics, a small smile creeping on to my face.
"Rule number four, Isa," Director told me as we walked, "Ace agents will always have your back."
"Good to know," I answered.
"Do you like Dylan, Isa?" Director asked without any emotion in her face.
"I...uh..." I stuttered as I glanced towards Dylan, a big smile on his face as he made Junior laugh.
The Director sighed, "I figured as much. The rules are there for a reason, Agent Donahue." I didn't know what to say, so the rest of the walk was us in silence.
"Come on, Junior," Director called after we had gone inside Ace. "Time for lunch."
"Aw, okay," Junior slid off of Dylan's back, took the Director's hand and waved as they walked away.
"I think we need to talk," Dylan said, once they were out of ear-shot. I nodded silently, and we walked to the cafeteria. We grabbed some lunch before taking it to a private room.
"There's some things I need to explain," Dylan began as I took a bite of my sandwich and rolled my eyes.
"Okay, explain."
