Another new town. Another new school. More people asking why she moved there and more rumors about her weirdo family.
At this point, she was used to it. She had to be.
There was no use in getting upset about what people said because most likely, they would be moving again in no time. She didn't have to put down roots or get to know anybody. But that was fine. She had all she needed in the person sitting next to her.
She reached over and grabbed the pale hand resting on the polyester seat next to her. She squeezed once but didn't look away from the road as their car took turn after turn into the small Indiana town.
