Here's a Halloween short story that I wrote:
How to Get to Know a Person
Just by looking at a person, there's not much to be said about them. Sure, some will say that there's much to be said by looking at someone, but that's prejudice. In order to really get to know a person, we'll have to step further than the judgmental glances. For example...
Instead of plain looking, observe them. No matter what kind of situation they're in, you can discover basic details about them. This is a good start. Now, we can step even further.
Follow them wherever they go. This will give you more depth on the information you gathered by observing them.
Walk home with them as their shadow. Explore where they live. Getting accustomed to their living quarters is a key part to getting accustomed to the person themselves.
Choose a time of day when they're quiet, reserved, and in general doing nothing. People can behave very differently when they're alone compared to when they have company.
Try to figure out what they fear the most. This way you can take full advantage of them.
Now it's the moment you've been preparing for. Wait until they're alone to introduce yourself. Make an entrance so grand that they scream for an encore. Finally, you know the most important things about a person: how they scream, how they fight, how they struggle, how they face imminent death. Isn't it lovely?
It was nice to know you. I can't wait for us to meet again.
