"1... 2... 3... Push." I grip my mates hand as she does as Sammy instructs.

She asked for no Epidural so she's screaming like a mad man. I flinch and whisper encouraging words.

She screams once again and squeezes my hand all to Hell. I growl quietly as I smell blood. We've been at this for about thirty minutes.

"Alright, Luna... One more. Your doing great. 1... 2... 3... Push."

My mate pushes one last time for what seems like only a few seconds before Sammy stops her.

I smile and kiss Nova's hand as a baby starts crying. Sammy and a few nurses carry the baby over to a cleaning station.

A lady walks over with a birth certificate. "Its a boy. Name?"

I look at Nova. She smiles. "Kai... You name him..."

I think for a second. "Sebastian Thomas Hearthstone." The nurse jots it down and returns to Sammy.

"You did great, Nova..." My mate smiles and leans up, silently asking for a kiss.

I press our lips together and smile. "He survived... I'm so happy..." She starts crying. I wipe away her tears and smile.

"I am too... Rest now... I'll do everything else..." Nova kisses me once more before hunkering down and sleeping.

"Mama! Papa!" Today is the day that Nova comes home from the hospital with our son.

I stayed with her the entire time, just to make sure that everything went OK. Marie watched Jasmine while we were gone.

"Hey there sugar plum." I pick her up and kiss her nose.

"Is my baby brother here?" She asks excitedly. I nod and step aside so Nova can get through.

In her arms is little baby Sebastian. "Here he is... Your little brother." I don't know why, but Nova seems... Older... More mature than before she had our second child.

"Aww... He's so cute!" Jasmine squeals. Nova quiets her down, so he doesn't wake up.

"I'll take the bags to the nursery." I kiss Nova's cheek and head into the room next to ours.

As I'm unpacking the baby's stuff, a knock comes on the door.

"Hey, Nick. Everything OK?" He nods, then pauses.

"No... There's a huge pack outside the borders demanding to see you. I think they're looking for a fight."

I clench my fists. "Today is not the best day..." I murmur and quickly follow my friend.

He wasn't joking. A mass of wolves has gathered. We turned into our wolves on the way here.

"Alpha. Why do you march on my territory?" I demand as a large gray wolf steps forward." He bows his head. A sign of respect.

"We seek refuge. Hunters have invaded our lands and killed many of us. I'm not asking for much... Just please... Hide our females and their pups."

I look amongst the group. Males are nuzzling their mates and pups. Most of them look like they've seen a few battles.

"Of course. May I ask, where your territory lies?"

"Yes, of course. We're a small group to the East. The Sun Pack." I nod. "And may I ask another favor?"

"Go right ahead. Packs stick together." All the previous tension is gone. This isn't a fight. This is an alliance.

"May I take some of your Warriors? Not very many. Five or six, at least." I nod.

"Naturally, I'll be tagging along. We are friends. Allies. I will fight along side you."

"You can't just up and leave! Your son was just born!" I sigh and keep packing my duffel. "Kai... You can't leave me here." I look at Nova.

She's crying. I hate seeing her this way. Distressed, scared, and angry.

"Nova... Can I tell you something?" She and I sit on the bed. "Someone once told me to follow my heart and do whatever I felt was right. My pack was killed. I won't sit by and watch as another meets the same fate. I'm following my heart."

My mate purses her lips and sighs. "Who told you that?" She asks.

"My mother. Just a few days before she was killed. My best friend was being bullied for being an Omega. I stepped in and fought for him. I was scolded by my father, but my mother saw a warrior in me."

Nova shakes her head and holds my hand. "You come back to me. Got it?" She mumbles. I nod and kiss her cheek.

"Always."

"So... They've been attacking nightly?" I ask when we reach his territory. His Pack House is fairly small, with only a few bedrooms.

"Yes. Ransacking homes and killing pups for pleasure."

He gestures to the mass grave in the side of the hill. "Houses? You don't all live in the House?"

He shakes his head. "Financial budget cuts. So, we built small homes for the families that live here. The Betas, the Warriors, and me and my mate live in the House, along with our children."

I gawk at him. In human form, he doesn't look any older than 18. "Excuse me. I didn't catch your name." He turns around and smiles at me.

"My name is Donovan. Donovan Kilia. I'm.... 17 years old. Yeah... Kind of hard to tell when the whole one year for every ten years thing." He holds out his hand.

I shake it. "Kai. Kai Hearthstone." He chuckles.

"I know who you are. You run the infamous Blood Moon Pack." I nod. Right. Famous... Sure...

"Hey! Your back!" A young woman runs up to us. She has jet black hair and brown eyes.

Donovan smiles and kisses her forehead. "Yep. Mary, this is Kai. Kai this is my mate, Mary."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Ma'am." I bow my head in respect.

"The pleasure is all mine, Alpha. Come on. I'll show you to where you'll be staying."

"Keep your heads low. Don't move a muscle. We don't know how skilled these hunters are." I tell my Warriors.

They nod and watch the tree line. We're hidden in some tall grass just outside of the Pack House.

A group of men rush the trees, screaming and flailing around. They look like they're still in their pajamas.

They don't have any rifles, but I can tell they're the men who have killed hundreds of these wolves.

As they get closer, my group springs up, growling and barking.

The spooked men, sprint to their left, towards the other team.

Finally, we have them cornered.

We keep them in a tight circle as Donovan steps forward to confront them.

"P-p-please! We... We got wives man... Please be lettin' us go." A fatter one begs.

Donovan growls and snaps at the mans fingers as he reaches out.

"You won't leave here alive. You have killed too many. And it's time you paid the price."

I'm taken aback by Donovan's attitude. I was this way when I tracked down the people who killed my parents.

"Sir... Isn't killing them a little much?" One of my Warriors ask.

"They have their ways of dealing with situations like this, and we have ours. I don't run this pack." I calmly tell him.

He backs away and keeps circling.

"Please! We got mouths to feed!" Another one begs. That hits home, since I'm a dad.

"And so did I before your dumb asses came and killed them all!"
