I stared blankly down at my phone.

I sigh and pull up 'snap maps' and check to see when he was last on his phone.

Just now

I sigh again, quietly to myself. He's never been one to reply quickly, he could ignore my messages for hours and then reply twice before going to sleep. I didn't mind. When he would apologies I'd send him a quick smiling selfie, "it's fine don't worry about it! Xxxx" whilst my chest ached and thoughts passed through my head.

I tap on the back of my phone case, wondering what he's doing 200 miles away. I pull up our pictures together. I stare at my flushed red cheeks, his sparking white teeth. His warm jacket was around me, and even though I can't see it in the picture, his arm is round my waist, warm and comforting.

I smile and sit up, looking at the picture. It's a simple selfie but the way his hair falls makes my heart race and I long to screenshot it to stare at whenever needed, but I don't. I click away and capture my hot rosy cheeks, and press send. I refresh quickly. No reply. Again. No reply.

I think of his right hand stitched into mine, my palm hot and clammy, his cool from the cold September air. We danced around wildly to the loud music in our friends garden, with not a single care in the world.

Opened now

"Hey! I'm so sorry I was at rugby practice! Xx"

His hair is messy and his hazel eyes are looking at something off his screen, his lips closed, his face soft.

"It's fine! How was rugby? Xxx"

And just like that we settled into a comfortable easy talk for hours, simple and the same as the day before and the day before that and the day before that.

"I have to go to bed now, I'll talk in the morning. Night. Xxx"

"Sleep well! Night! Xxxx"

I turn my phone off and sigh slightly. I remember hugging him goodbye at the party. He wrapped his strong arms around me, pulling me upwards seeing as he was taller then me, and some how my cheek was pressed against his. I wasn't sure if he noticed but I pressed into him further, letting sparks run through my cheek and around my brain.

"I'll see you soon then?" He pulled away as he spoke his eyes bright and hopeful.
"Me too. I'll see you soon." I smiled back, obsessed and overwhelmed by his beauty.
"Text me as soon as you get home."
"I will."

And with that I turned around and walked out of the front door.
