He heard her yell after him, her voice much closer than expected. He stopped and watched her cross the road and jog towards him, her hair flying around her face.
"Hi," she panted. He let her catch her breath. The thick scarf around her neck somehow made her look cuter.
"Hey."
"Where are you headed to?"
"Just wandering." His eyes darted back across the road to where he last saw the man, and she caught the small gesture.
"He is just a friend," she said.
He blinked. "What?"
"You heard what I said."
He paused. "I don't care who he is."
She smirked as she grabbed his arm and started walking. "Sure."
