Day 14.
Teitan High School.
The two were walking side by side. Each seems to be bothered by their own thoughts. Haibara was clueless about the upcoming ball though. Conan, on the other hand, wanted to ask her about it. He looked inconspicuously at her. She was acting like usual.
'Mitsuhiko still hasn't talked to her, right? I can still be the first to ask her.' he said to himself. Yet he could not find the courage to utter a word.
"What?" Haibara's voice snap him back to reality.
He just looked at her.
"You're spacing out again. Is something bothering you?" she asked in confusion.
He shook his head. And without saying anything, he just walked briskly past her. The scientist confusingly followed.

The students were all busy in their own business when they arrived. Conan's eyes automatically searched for Mitsuhiko. He was not still inside the class.
Ayumi approached them. "Good morning, Conan-kun, Ai-chan!"
"Good morning." they replied in unison as they sat on their respective seats.
"Where are Genta and Mitsuhiko?" Conan asked.
"Genta still isn't here. Mitsuhiko just went outside. He seems busy." Ayumi answered.
Conan secretly look at Haibara. She was reading a book on her seat. He looks at his watch. It was still early for the first class. He headed outside to find Mitsuhiko.
As soon as Conan left, Ayumi approached Haibara.
"A-Ai-chan..." she called hesitantly.
Haibara looks up from her book, and replied. "Yes?"
Ayumi stared at her for a while as she fidgets her hand. "Do you...do you like Conan-kun?"
Haibara was taken aback for a moment with her question, but regained herself in just a few seconds.
"Why?" she whispered.
"Well, you two seems a lot closer these past few days. I figured something must have happened."
The scientist thought for a bit before replying. She knew every word she will say will affect the girl.
"Edogawa-kun just helped me with something. No need to worry. I told you before, I don't hold any romantic feelings towards him." she lied.
Ayumi's face brightened. "Really?"
She nodded weakly.
"Then I'll ask him to be my date for the ball! Thanks Ai-chan!" she exclaimed mirthfully as she headed outside, maybe to find Conan. She stared at her for a moment. She could not find it in her heart to admit to Ayumi her feelings for Conan. It may break her heart.
'Ball?' The scientist wondered. 'What is happening?'

Meanwhile, as soon as Ayumi left, Mitsuhiko entered. He headed straight towards Haibara.
"H-Haibara-san!" he called.
