Everyone turned their attention to Roman, who still seemed very weak and was holding on to something for support.
"I didn't want you all to notice but you finally did." he said.
"Roman, we know that something is wrong so just say what it is." Virgil practically yelled.
"Didn't I make it clear? I'm not needed as much, so I decided just to stop completely. It's just not...working anymore." The others stared at him, not believing their ears.
"Roman, you play an important role here. You are needed." Logan sighed.
"You could come up with good ideas that make sense. Patton could provide the passion, emotions, and some imagination, and Virgil-"
"I'm going to stop you right there." Virgil said. "Look, if you disappear it will affect all of us. If one part of the building falls, the entire building falls!"
"Virgil, please-"
"Not everything revolves around you. Just look at the bigger picture for once!"
"Virgil does have a point." Logan said. "You can't just disappear. It's not how this works."
Roman was dumbfounded. "I thought you were all going to listen."
"For almost a year, I wanted the same and you never did!" Virgil yelled "I want to help but I wish you helped me more often. Those mistakes have already been made." Virgil sunk down.
"Well, honestly that was surprising." Thomas sighed. "And Roman, we will listen."
Roman looked unsure of what to do. He refused to meet anyone's eyes.
"I just feel like I haven't been doing my job right."
"Of course you've been doing it right!" Thomas exclaimed. "What makes you think you haven't?"
"It's just...I feel like I've been pushing you farther and farther away from success. I just feel like I haven't been helping."
"Roman, you just having a presence here is helping." Logan said. "What you just did didn't help anyone. That was extremely dangerous for all of us.
"Logan, you don't understand-"
"Maybe I don't but you just can't do that." With that, Logan sunk down. That left Thomas and Patton to listen.
"You can just say it!" Roman spat. "If you don't want to listen, if you think this is just some stunt just say it!"
"But we know that this isn't." Thomas said. "We know that something is wrong and that this is serious."
"I've tried to explain but I'm just pushing you all away. I know I messed up and hurt you all before but I don't know what I'm doing wrong right now." Roman practically cried.
"Maybe how you're feeling is affecting all of us. I mean, that can happen." Patton spoke up for the first time in a while.
"Yeah maybe..." Roman sighed. "But even if you're not affected, Virgil and Logan already made it clear that they wouldn't stay."
"They had their reasons. Maybe they think that you're faking it...but I definitely don't! That was just an idea. You know what, I'll talk to them." Patton realized his mistake and awkwardly sank down.
Thomas and Roman looked at each other silently. It felt like a long time before the silence was broken.
"Roman, I promised that I'd listen to you and I'm not breaking. I won't argue with you. I'll only hear you out and help you as best as I can."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Alright then." Roman sighed and let out everything that had happened.
