Chapter 3- Explain.

Chapter 3

I don't know how long everything was black for, all that I know is that I am currently lying in a hospital bed, surrounded by nurses and doctors.

I look up to find the tall figure again, this time with a worried expression on his face. He was clasping my hand.

"Beth?" He whispers

"Yes?" I mutter

He lets out a huge sigh of relief, clearly he was worried.

"What's going on?" I asked

"Beth, I'm so sorry, I will never leave you again, I'm so sorry about Lily hurting you" He said innocently

I thought for a moment about what happened, a few hours ago. About Lily beating me up, about Luke not being there.

"Luke, I was close to having a broken back with her!" I said

"I know, I can't believe what she did" He agreed

"No but the thing was, you weren't there to help me!" I was slightly annoyed right now.

"Listen Beth, I had no idea that Lily knew where we lived, okay?"

Yeah right. Luke speaks to Lily almost everyday, I wouldn't be surprised if Lily knew my number.

"Forget it" I said

I wanted to clamber out of the hospital bed right then, but I was almost pulled down by the wires and monitors which circulated me.

"Luke, why am I in hospital?"

"You see, last night when Lily punched you in the chest?" He sounded so worried

"Well it kind of left a lump"

"And the doctors think it might be a tumour"

Tumour. Tumour. I thought where I heard that word before. That's right, my nan had a tumour, and died of cancer.

Cancer.
