— DESCRIPTION:

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back

⎰ Margot Naomi* ⎱

— MARGOT NAOMI LOVED SUPERHEROES. Or, to be more specific, superhero comic books, particularly the older Captain America comics that had permanent residence in the special box on her desk. Lovingly worn, yet cared for, Margot could often be found flipping through the pages of her various comics as she worked on understanding dynamic poses, studying the way the artists were able to stay consistent while drawing the beloved heroes often seen on the streets and in the news, their exploits, fictional and otherwise, documented in pages and pages of full wide panels and action sounds.

But there was still one hero that had yet to get his own comic series: Spider-Man. The new kid on the block, Margot was determined to write his story first. Thus began her attempt to follow the hero around, but it quickly became apparent that running after a hero that could swing on webs wasn't going to cut it; still, Margot persisted, wishing that she could have some way of following the hero and getting all the information she needed.

As the saying went, be careful what you wish for, and Margot learned that the hard way after jokingly making a wish on a strange box, finding herself with the ability to become as small as a fly, able to listen in on conversations undetected save for the minor irritations small insect-like creatures possessed. But while this was the perfect opportunity to watch Spider-Man and gain all the information she needed, Margot soon found her powers were good for something else: gossip.

Almost overnight, Margot became the go-to informant for any and all Midtown scandal and news, ranging from the answers for the supposedly impossible Physics test to the truth about Flash Thompson's secret relationship with transfer student Harry Osborn. But while the newfound popularity and power was enough to keep her busy, Margot still had a goal: following Spider-Man.

But with great power comes great responsibility, and as Margot continued to follow the masked crusader, she quickly realized that being a superhero was more demanding than comics made it out to be, and while being the hero was a great time, Margot would soon learn that all power comes with a price.

— ADDITIONAL QUOTES:

Power comes with a price. It's a burden. It demands sacrifice. ❞ — Drew Karpyshyn

That's what we all want, isn't it? Power without price. ❞ — Kelley Armstrong

The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. ❞ — Daniel J. Boorstin

It is the absence of facts that frightens people: the gap you open, into which they pour their fears, fantasies, desires. ❞ — Hilary Mantel

— ADDITIONAL NOTES:

1. Margot's gossiping is going to be something she has to overcome, because it actually becomes a problem not only for the people she talks about (her outing Flash is just not cool and actually endangers his life at home, which she later finds out, but doesn't say anything) but for herself as it becomes a habit for her

2. She is a huge comic book nerd. She loves the Cap ones especially, but is also fond of the Wanda Maximoff ones

3. She is not friends with the main gang, she has her own friends, but she does know them in passing, as Ned and Peter know her for being as big of a nerd as they are

4. I know that Sally Avril is generally used as an antagonist in these stories, but I think she could work pretty well here, as her story is similar to Margot's, except Sally is much more ruthless (it's shown that her treatment of Peter is actually harsher than that of Flash) so you could have her and Margot at odds
