I'll never forget the day that he told me the truth. He had lied to me, all this time, I had known something was up, but he never told me what, not until now. I watched as people went by, turning their heads to see a girl, hair messy, a stressed look all over, waiting at the bus stop in the cool breeze. I felt something cold fall on my cheek, then all over me, I watched as car wipers started to swing back and forth, clearing the snow from their windshields. I twiddled with the piece of paper in my hands, the note he left in my locker. I stared at it once more, I just couldn't look away. Sighing, I looked over my shoulder, to see a man, staring at me. I wondered why he'd be looking at me, as if I was some interesting specimen. He asked me for a picture, for his best friend, and at this point, I didn't care if I'd be put on the internet or not, there was only one thing on my mind, so I let him do whatever he wanted to; soon, he finished, quickly running off with the pictures he took. I saw the bus pulling up, so I stood up to get on the bus. I looked at the paper one more time, as I folded the paper, soon crumpling it in my hand. The sentence on the paper was fresh in my mind, repeating over and over again: Dear Kenzie, I don't have much longer, I'll be gone soon. I'll be in the hospital tonight. Your Best Friend, Jordan.
