"4 years" Freya called out from the other side of your room, "I can't believe it's been that long". "I know," you explained, "I can't believe how quick that time has gone". You were currently lounging on your bed scrolling through Instagram while you held a conversation with Freya who was standing in front of your closet. You had invited your best friend over to help you get ready for your date tonight. Well not exactly a date. A special evening with just you and Lewis, your boyfriend of now 4 years.

"What about this one?" Freya asked as she held out a tight black dress. "I wore it recently," You spoke with a shrug not agreeing with her option. "Lewis won't mind" Freya pushed knowing you looked good in the dress. "I know Lewis won't mind, but I will, I want it to be special its four years not just a casual date night like we always do" You answered standing up to observe the clothes you owned.

"Fine" Freya agreed as she placed the dress back into the closet. Your eyes danced across the hangers in front of you. All holding shirts, skirts, dresses, the lot. So many types of fabric shaped to form outfits. None seemed to be the right one. "What's this one?" Freya said reaching towards a hanger at the end of the closet. Her words pulled you out of your daydream as you watched her reach up to display the dress.

"Not that one" you whispered as your breath caught. "Why not?" Freya asked as she pulled it out letting the light hit it. The long beautiful red dress cascaded down to the floor. The light from your room shone on all the folds and shimmer in the material. "I wore that to my sister's wedding and I swore I would never wear it again," you explained to an eager Freya.

"Why? It's gorgeous!" Freya exclaimed. "Because, it's special to my sister," you continued. "Well now it can be special to Lewis" Freya persuaded.

Your eyes glanced over the dress as you bit your lip contemplating wearing the dress. Lewis always did love you in red.

"Okay," You said deciding to end the months of darkness that the dress had suffered sitting in the back of your closet. "Yes!" Freya exclaimed moving away from the closet. "Now let's do your hair and makeup" You smiled over at your excited best friend. She really knew how to make you feel happy.

The subtle chimes of the bells above the door rang again. Your eyes glanced up at the door searching for only one person. 'Nope'. Sixteen people. Sixteen people had walked through that door since you had sat down at an empty table. A few couples, a few families and of course a few single people residing at the bar, but none of them were Lewis.

You continued sipping on your drink wondering where he was. Your fingers tapped on the table growing impatient. "Are you ready to order?" a waiter spoke as she came over to your table. "Not just yet thank you, I'm waiting for someone" you explained feeling slightly embarrassed. "Oh my apologies I'll come back later" she smiled as she walked away.

An hour had passed since you first arrived and you had texted Lewis multiple times and had no reply. 'Where was he? Was he standing you up?' You thought as your heels tapped on the floor anxiously.

The all too similar bells rang as a group of rowdy boys flowed into the restaurant. You looked up hoping an alone Lewis would follow in behind the group apologising profusely. Unfortunately, you recognised the group of boys and rose in your seat stepping into their view. (the group is Sidemen members)

Once the group of boys recognised you, they stopped in their tracks staring at your outfit. The red dress definitely stood out amongst everyone else. And just as you wished you didn't hope, an alone Lewis followed in behind the group but instead of apologising, he asked who was buying the first round of drinks unaware of the scene that was played out.

Your eyes blurred up as tears rushed to the surface. Finally Lewis saw you standing their all alone in front of the group. "Shit" he breathed out. You began to grab your purse and exit the restaurant feeling completely embarrassed and ashamed. 'Y/N I'm so sorry I can't believe it" Lewis tried apologising.

"No, I can't believe it" you argued tears crashing down your cheeks, the makeup the Freya did earlier vanishing away. "After 4 years what, you forgot? I waited over an hour for you and you just turn up with the boys looking to get drunk?"

"Y/N look I really am sorry, I thought we were going out tomorrow night, I really didn't mean it." Lewis pleaded. "I don't want to do this here," You whispered feeling uncomfortable about the strangers' eyes glancing at the pair of you.

"Then forgive me and we can enjoy our lovely meal" Lewis asked tentatively. "Lewis" you breathed out unsure on whether to forgive him so easily. "Come on, you're all dressed up, you look gorgeous and I already feel horrible so let me make it up to you" Lewis persuaded.

"Okay" you whispered finally looking up at his warm brown eyes. "I love you" Lewis spoke as he brushed the tears off your cheeks. "I love you too"
