Kirstie's POV

Winter was so beautiful. The sun shone just right on the white snow, which weighed down the tree branches and covered the ground. I had flown to Washington for a specific reason, of course, but the snow was so breath-taking. It sparkled in the weak winter sun. I felt drawn to the winter, like I should go frolicking in the snow.

"Kirstie," said I voice from behind me. I turned to see a woman with pale skin, hair as white as the snow, and icy blue eyes. "I am Zima. You know me as the cold."

"You're the one who brought me here?"

 "I am."

 "Why?"

"I must tell you of your true potential. And of your powers."

 "Powers?"

"Yes, my young apprentice. Come, let me show you what I mean."

That was four years ago. I was eighteen, just before the Sing Off. I'd gone into my intensive training for the months before Scott called me up, asking me if I'd like to sing. By then, I'd already been initiated.

There was a clan of elementals known as Fawnas. Of course mortals didn't know about us. I was Ice, and my mentor, Zima, was cold. We worked hand in hand, alongside Snow, to keep the cold months as they should've been.

The elements lined up with their seasons. Snow, Zima, and I were – of course – Winter. Flame, Heat, and Sun served the Summer months. Wind, Gust, and Rain represented Spring. Fall was a collective effort on behalf of all of us. Heat sunk into the background, while I made frosts and Wind blew them over the over the Earth to coax the leaves off of their trees. Mortals understood this as a simple cycle, but we understood this as our duty.

I was still able to go on tour, and support Pentatonix, but I knew that I could get called away at any moment. It had already happened once. I wanted to tell my band-mates, but I knew that would upset the balance. Mortals couldn't know. It would spread like wildfire. If any of them knew, they'd have to be killed.

I had been converted to a Winter element. I was known amongst the other Fawnas as the 'Ice Queen'. I had white hair, ice blue eyes, and my skin was always extremely pale and cold to the touch. All Winter elementals had this appearance. But since it was so different from what my friends were used to, I was always wearing contacts. I dyed my hair regularly and got a monthly spray tan.

It was difficult, sure, but it was worth it. Being an elemental was rewarding and it had its perks. So I liked it.
