Blip…. Blip…. Blip…. Blip….

Is all I can hear, I feel weak, and sore, I can barely move.

I slowly open my eyes, which takes a lot of effort. The room is bright and the light hurts my eyes as I slowly re-adjust.

“Liv! Oh my god! You’re awake!” I look to my left to see my brother Flynn, he has a huge grin on his face.

“What happened..?” I asked him slowly in a rough voice.

“Liv, you’ve been out for five days, you knocked yourself out during the competition” he explained

oh yeah, the x-games. I guess I didn’t make my triple..

“Did I win?” I asked. Before Flynn could answer the door opened and a 30 or so year old man walked in the room with a white doctors coat on and a stethoscope around his neck. He was holding a clipboard.

He must be my doctor…

“You wake up from being in a coma for five days and the first thing you want to know is if you won?” he said with a smile as he gave a low chuckle.

I shrugged, well.. Tried to. It hurt and I gave a pained expression.

“I’m going to go let everyone know that she’s awake” Flynn said as the doctor gave him a nod, “could you give us ten minutes or so?” asked the doctor

“Oh, yeah sure!” said Flynn and he excited the quite spacious room I was in.

“Sorry, I haven’t introduced myself.. I’m Doctor Thompson. Your very lucky to be alive Miss. White” he said as he smiled lightly. He was a very tall man, he had tanned skin, black hair and the most amazing brown eyes. I can imagine he would be one of those doctors that everybody would swoon over.

“How bad are my injuries considering…” I asked hesitantly

“Lets put it this way.. your injury would be the equivalent of running off a four story building and landing on your head. Yet your still alive… very very lucky. You have a broken collar bone and a broken wrist, you’ve also pulled a muscle in one of your shoulders, but this all happened after you landed and began to roll down the slope.” He said

“So my head neck and back are fine?” I asked

“I wouldn’t say fine, you will be very tender in those areas for a couple of months, especially your upper back, where the main impact occurred. But no you don’t have any serious injuries to worry about in that area” he said

I gave a sigh of relief

All of a sudden the door swung open, and in came my family, my mum came straight to my side and began planting kissed all over my face

“Livvy, we were so worried!” she said as she finally sat down. Livvy is what mum would call me when I was little, and whenever she was worried or I would hurt myself she would call me Livvy. Just out of habit I guess?

“I’ll leave you to it, ill be back later to check up on you Olivia” he said with a smile and exited the room. I began to talk with my family; they were all so worried about me. After a good half an hour I remembered.

“So no one ever told me.. Did I win or what?” I asked with a laugh. From what I could remember I was still in the lead before the accident, the only way I would have come second is if Kelly Clark had beaten my score. They all laughed and mum motioned her head towards the bedside table, I turned my head, which surprisingly didn’t hurt too much to see a gold medal sitting on the small table. Flynn grabbed it for me and put it around my neck. I held the medal in my hands and inspected it closely.

OLIVIA WHITE, 1ST PLACE, WOMENS SLOPESTYLE, X-GAMES 2015.

I began to squeal, which caught everyone off guard because they all jumped.

“I won! I won my first big competition!” I yelled as I continued to scream happily

Marks POV

The last two days had gone extremely slowly, waiting for Olivia to wake up was killing me. All I wanted to see was a smile on her face again. I had taken a quick break from sitting by her bed side to go and get a coffee from across the road from the hospital. I had sat down, when all of a sudden my phone began to ring, I looked at the caller ID, it said FLYNN WHITE

“Hello?” I answered

“Mark! She’s awake!” he said excitedly, I huge grin appeared on my face

“Liv’s awake?!” I asked, just to make sure I wasn’t hearing things

“Yeah she woke up like ten minutes ago, get back over here man” he said with a laugh

“I’ll be right over” I said, I left my coffee and ran back across the road.

Typical Liv.. Waking up just as I leave..

I walked quickly through the hospital until I came to the ward she was in, I began walking towards her recovery room when I hear happy squealing

There’s only one person who that could be…

“I won! I won my first big competition!” the yelling continued

I came to her door and opened it slowly, her family were still in the room.

I looked towards them and they were all smiling at me, they obviously realized I had opened the door. I looked towards the bed and Liv was there too, grinning like a little kid with her medal around her neck.
