A New Addition

Ian's POV:

Lavina and I been waking through the woods for hours. I grab the Panem map out of my book and look at the map, we passed through a district boundary yesterday, so I know we are now in district 7. Thank god we have a panem map. Only the people in district 1,2 , and 4 are allowed to look at maps, since the peacekeepers mainly come from 1 and 2.

Braking my train of thought, Lavina states, "Ian.." she sounds really concerned. Things are rushing through my head, she probably just wants to talk.

I answer, trying to sound calm, "What??"

Lavina says, after hesitating for a couple minutes, "I think my water just broke, the baby is coming, Ian"

Wait what! I thought we had another week before the baby is coming! Oh my god! What do i do. Fuck fuck Ian talk to her god dammit

I say, trying to stay calm, "Its okay, ok ok come here."

I grab her wrist and pull her towards a stream, tell her to lay down on the soft grass by the stream. She does what i say.

I grab the book from my book that we used in health class freshmen year. I open it and look to the section titled "child birth"

I say, "Well the book says you should push or something."

Lavina says, "Okay,"

I start panicing, we dont have a doctor, i dont know anything about health, i plaged on my phone that entire class, god dammit that old lady was so annoying. What do we do. What if the baby isnt alive. What if the baby has a health issue and we dont know and it dies shortly after.

Lavina begins to scream from pain, loudly.
I ask, trying to help her "Need anything."

She says, with tears running down her face, "Water."

I walk to the stream farther away from her, the peicing screams ringing through my head. I go deeper into the woods, i pick up a bottle and fill it up. I stay out for half an hour.

I walk back, Lavina lets out the loudest scream I've heard so far. She suddenly stops screaming. She says, "IAN! IAN! COME HERE."

i run over to her, as fast as i can. I see her, holding a beaytiful baby. A little bit of blood is on her baby here and there, but its beautiful.

"Congratulations, Lavina." I say,

She giggles, "Its a girl Ian, question?"

I look at her, "What?"

She asks, "Can you cut off her cord, ur better with knives then i am."

I say, "Lavina i cant.."

She laughs, "Yes you can."

She digs into my bag, she pulls out the sharpest knife.

I begin to cut towards the root of the cord, i cut it really close, without harming to the baby.

She says, "You did it!"

I laugh, "yea."

The baby has Lavina's eyes and lips. She never told anyone about the father, hope she will tell us eventually. I love Lavina with all my heart, not in a relationship wise like i used to. I used to be OBSESSED with her, but its kind of faded over the years.

Lavina yawns, baby in her hands. I say, "You look tired, go sleep, i got the baby."

Lavina sighs, "Okay. Here is my good friend Ian, like your not related uncle." She smiles at the baby, she puts the baby in my hands. Little Hope looks up at me, i smile at her.

Lavina goes towards her sleeping bag, she passes out jn sleep, i bet she will be asleep for awhile, she just gave birth, so ill give her time.

I rock little hope in my arms. I love her so much, she is like my own child in a way. Hope begins to cry, the first thing i think is too sing, so i sing her my favorite nursery ryhme when I was little;

"Rock a bye baby, on the tree top, when the wind blows the cradle will rock. When the bough breaks the cradle will fall. And down come the baby, cradle in arms"

She begins to smile, i laugh at her, she is adoreable. I tickle her lightly, she laughs, she is so cute oh my gosh.

I look at her, keep her a deep glance, I tell her, "Welcome to the world Baby Hope Lily Summers"
