When Rip was a teenager he obsessed about all the heroes of old. He even thought some of the legends were pretty cool. So when it came time for him to pick a name he picked Rip Hunter. The same name of a man who led a group of misfit heroes to save all of time. It had seemed fitting to him. Little did he no then that he was actually reading about his older self.
