Cracked-Dry
By: ECole789
It came from beyond
the realm of sky
pawing at the soil
barren, cracked-dry
·
Sunless 'sphere yonder:
ocean-blue abounds,
and so too
its coat
of the same hue,
dappled soft white
of blue sky's clouds
·
Of fleeting absence
a pondering mind—
diverted, ever-spanning
oculi
·
Ferine and death-black:
Hooves of rolling thunder
assail the stillness
within the air;
the dust of decay
a-waste in horse tracks—
a lone mustang
races hard and heavy
along arid plains
·
the horse brought forth
from essence of sky
solemn in snorts and neighs
still paws at the ground
barren, cracked-dry.
