Jimin - Practice

It was Friday night and I was spending my time with Jimin, my friend and dance instructor at a dance studio.

"The next move is quite tricky, let's start with the footwork. Jump, cross step, turn and then slide," Jimin said as he executed the dance move flawlessly.

"So ... jump, step, turn and ..." I looked at him and he did the move, "... slide"

"There you go, but you're still a bit stiff," I nodded and watched him do the move again.

It took me a few more tries, but I got the hang of it.

"Okay now for the movements of your hands, you have to be in-sync with your feet, okay?" I nodded a little out of breath and then he proceeded to show me.

After he showed me I went on to do it.

"Nice! Try to do it from the shuffle step to the jump," I nodded listening to him and did it.

"Your footwork from the shuffle to the jump was a bit offbeat," He said standing next to me, "This is what you did," he said as he intimidated my mistake and I understood, "You got it?" I nodded, "Now, this is how it should look like," he did it again properly.

"From the top and I'll video you," He said and sat down bringing out his phone.

I take deep breaths first and stretched my arms, he played the song and I started to move.

I stumble between parts and pause, "It's okay, just keep going," Jimin said and I nodded, listening to the music I move to the beat.

"Jump, step, turn and slide," I said to myself as I did the dance step, I smile to myself as I finish the step.

"Great! Let's take a break and I'll teach you the next step," I nodded and he handed me my water bottle as I sat next to him, "Watch what you need to work on, and we'll start once you catch your breath," I nodded as he gave me his phone, he stood up, stretched a bit, then started to dance.

I stared at him move and he was so graceful, he looked at me in the mirror I then fixed my gaze on the video. Not really focusing on the video I peak to see him move.

"You better be watching the video," He said sternly and I replayed the video to pay attention.

I keenly watch and cringed at myself in some parts.

"Ready?" He asked standing in front of me and I nodded putting down my water bottle and stood up, "Did you see the part you need to work on?" He asked as we went to the center of the studio.

"The part before the shuffle," He nodded and gestured me to do it, I stumble again like a while ago and he smiles amused.

"I see why you're making a mistake, you're trying way too hard to do exactly what I did, how about you try doing it on your own way," Jimin said and simplified the step into my own style.

"There we go, seems more natural," He said nodding in approval and I smiled.

"Let's go through it from the top and then I'll teach the next moves, yeah?" I nodded and he walked to the stereo and played the start.

"We're done!" Jimin says and I drop to the floor to lie down.

"I think I'm dying," I said breathing heavily and felt my whole body drenched in sweat.

"Come on," He said holding his hand for me to take and I did, "Woah, you're heavy," he teased.

"Am not!" I said hitting his arm and he chuckles.
