We decided to leave because we couldn't bear the pain of losing Candace. But before we left, we buried her body right outside of the hotel. We put flowers on her grave. Roses, her favorite flower.

We decided to take shifts driving through the night. We had to get as far away from Candace's grave as possible.

"I still can't believe that she died," said Emily.

"She died a hero," I said.

"Yeah, she did. My sister's a hero!" Emily exclaimed.

We drove throughout the day, too. At about 8, we stopped at a hotel in Kentucky for the night.

We lay in our beds, talking.

"We're almost there, Emily," I said.

"When we get to DC, how will I get back home? What if someone comes after me too?" asked Emily.

"I don't know, Emily. I just don't know," I said as I drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up, Emily was already awake and dressed. I looked at the clock. It was 7 AM.

"Well finally! You're awake. Let's go," Emily said.
