War

She stood in front of the door. She didn't know how to tell him. She could only imagine that he'd be heartbroken. With a deep breath she entered the room.

There he was, standing behind his desk facing the window observing the war taking place outside. Noticing her presence he turned around.

"So what's the news?" he asked grimly. She didn't know how to break it to him. She knew he would go berserk if he got to know. But then how long can you keep a secret from someone?

"Why are you so quiet? Tell me what happened. Are you alright?" he asked, concerned. She took a deep breath, preparingherself for the worst.

"He's gone..." she muttered before bursting into tears. "Who?"
"Buddy is gone" she sobbed.

He was shocked. His best friend and soldier that everyone looked up to, a dependable comrade on the field was gone!? No one had defeated Buddy before. "Your joking right?" Silence only prevailed except for the sounds of her sobbing. It was true.

"Tell me Kate how did this happen?" he growled. She began to explain.

"Buddy like normal was guiding us to our victory by slowly destroying their army into bits" Kate paused. "That was until he faced their leader, Conner. They fought with such intensity that all of us stopped fighting and crowded around them." she pause again as she bit back a sob. "Connor some how figured out Buddy's weak spot, his ankle. He shot Buddy over there before..." the words didn't come out her mouth but he understood what she meant.

Now he was angry. Sure Buddy died a heroic death but he will make his death go in vain. He shall finish Connor with his own hands, or so he thought.

He quickly opened the drawer of the desk and pulled out a water gun. She stood there in shock, her eyes wide open. Kate knew he would never pick up a weapon unless it was a desperate situation. "Kate, let's go and annihilate them." he said, thirsty for war. She nodded dumbly, before she unsheathed her plush sword. They stormed out onto the yard where they saw Connor holding his water gun proudly in his hands after he took down a bunch of toys, now strewn all over the yard. One one side Buddy laid there, dead.

"Look who has come, its Henry." he sneered. "We're here to defeat you." Kate said bravely. "Says the one who screamed 'Mommy save me!' " Connor acted out. Kate looked at him not one but amused. "Let's get this over with." Henry said to which Connor hummed in response.

The two brothers took their water guns out aiming at each other. Just as they were going to pull the trigger...
"Come inside, it's lunch time." all the three of them groaned in response to Henry and Connor's mom. "It's almost over Mom, let us finish this." Connor pleaded. "Come in, eat you food and then come and play. After all a warrior does need to be strong and to be strong you must eat properly at the right time." she explained.

"C'mon let's go" Kate said. Kate and Connor ran back inside. "Hey Buddy you can stop playing dead now." Henry said to his trusty four-legged friend. Buddy, the dog, barked happily before both if them ran back inside. The winner of the war would have to be decided later.
