Hope

Lying on creaking ice.

Frostbite stricken hair.

Skin turning blue as the centuries pass.

Fingers clenched between my teeth,

Fingernails carving a crater on my tongue,

Tasting every bit of blood.

Crouched and weak.

Wide eyes fiercely gazing

At the faint memory of laughter.

Patiently waiting for a daydream to realise.

Until the time comes to unfreeze this hardened soul.

I will lie here crying hope.
