Where Are You Going?

Penny's Way

Completely spent and very satiated, Penny and Kade stare at the ceiling intoxicated by their copulating. Both their minds racing they search to find the best way to say how they are feeling.

Kady laughs loudly, "Is this what they miss?"

Penny sighs, "Yes, but the problem is the only way for them to have a happy ending is if ..." Kady finishes his sentence, "there's no us. Gods what do you say to that?"

Penny rolls over and looks Kady in the eye, "Selfishly, I say to hell with them. Lets just run away. I can take us any when you want to go, other dimensions, we could stay forever." Kady smiles and kisses him deeply, "You are a traveler. I just can't be that easy." Penny rolls away to get a bottle of water. He brings her some snacks, Kady rolls onto her back and says, "We could stay here for an eternity and still you would go back in time." Penny stops to stare out the window into the distance, "You would remember everything."

Penny turns to face her, "And you wouldn't even remember my name." Kady stands up to embrace him. Penny tries to pull away but she grabs his face, "If this my last night with you, I want this moment to be the one to last forever. It matters how this ends."

Penny finds himself staring at a blackboard and the back of Kady's head. He remembers her voice, the look in her eyes when she said, "What if we can never love this way again? You deserve a memory you can hold on to. You'll need something to believe in...won't you?"

Izzy appears next to him, "What can I do? How can I make this better? In this version of time, its not perfect but ..."

"However." Penny corrects her. "The word leading to hope is however, but is final. It doesn't go anywhere."

Izzy starts to pay attention, "Geebus how many times are you going to visit this lecture?" Quinton is playing with a coin while Alice is furiously taking notes. "I think I'm going to be sick. I don't understand what's so special about this time?"

"Oh my God is that what she's thinking? How can you sit here knowing in this time..." Izzy's mouth drops open.

Penny rolls his eyes, "Its the only place I can clearly see ...the happiest memory she left me." Penny shrugs off the water trying to come to his eyes, "I feel like somewhere in this moment I can find ...the best way to get some place I can belong for awhile."

"I know where to go..." Izzy surrounds them in her bubble.

They appear in a club in the UK, instantly Penny smiles. "Thank God - Adele makes me sad." Izzy giggles, "I know right? Bruno Mars got it just right." They both laugh for a moment as a waitress brings them some drinks. Penny takes a long swig, smacks his lips and says, "I almost forgot about this night."

Izzy smiles, "I know. That's why I've decided to become selfish." Penny stares at her wide-eyed. "I have a confession." Leaning in closer, "I don't want to care about all the others. I want to make the best decision based on my ... makeshift kingdom."

"We've had this conversation before, how is it going to be different this time?" Penny goes back to drinking his beer and watching the show.

"We play only the cards we have instead of looking for what we think is coming next. No pulling cards from other versions, no resurrections. Just the hand this time has dealt us."

"Live in the moment. Haven't we tried that?" Penny looks skeptical.

"No and yes. What if its not where we try to go but where we start it?" Izzy holds up a watch.

"Isn't that for ..."

"Jane Chatwin. We know she must have the watch. Perhaps the issue is the when she gets it?" Penny is listening. "When we enter the story. When we choose the memories whose past we keep in order." 

Convinced. Penny asks, "Where do we begin?"
