Highschool was the bane of Elizabeth's existence. Well, sometimes  anyways.  She enjoyed seeing her friends and history class. Especially History class.  Although today was going to be a good day because she was going to be picked up early by her mother to go to the court house to get her license. Math was her worst subject but her friends made it bearable. Living in a small town in central Virginia had its advantages and disadvantages.  Elizabeth loved the country side and being able to fish and roam. However,  for most if the teenagers of the small county the only major social gatherings they had to look forward to were the football games on friday night. She was daydreaming in Spanish 4 when the teachers phone rang and Elizabeth knew it was her call to leave. The teacher excused her from class and she quickly packed her things up and left, walking towards the front of the school. She met her mother and they walked out into the parking lot.

"Sorry I'm late Liz, a train came through." Kate told her daughter.

"It's fine. I got to work on my project longer anyways so it worked out. " Elizabeth assured her mother as the got into their car and began the short drive into the center of the town.

"Are you excited?  This is alot of responsibility." Kate glanced at her daughter.

"Yeah, I know." A slight attitude could be heard in her response.

After about five minutes they arrived and walked into the court house and through a metal detector.  Elizabeth sat down on a bench as Kate went to see a secretary about the time and to check in. Time ticked slowly and Liz watched as people came and went. Some were dressed very nicely while others showed up in pajamas and sweatpants.  Eventually an Officer apeared and escorted the duo into the courtroom were a judge and another secretary sat.

Liz listened to a speech on safety and responsibilities and punishment if she failed to do so and was eventually awarded a piece of paper stating she was now a licensed driver.

Upon exiting the room she and her mother were handed a clip board and told to update information.  Liz huffed impatiently as she wanted to leave and drive home. Kate gave her a  "really" Look and Liz settled. Once the paperwork was done Kate returned it to the secretary.
"Mam, you have to fill out who the father is." The mousy lady spoke up upon seeing the error.

"Oh, we are no longer in touch and he  has not been in her life." Kate responded.

"Well you see, both parents must be listed on this form." The secretary had an attitude now. Kate gritted her teeth  and took the clipboard with paperwork and scribbled something down quickly before turning on her heel and flicking her dirty blonde hair over her shoulder and leaving with Liz right behind her.

The secretary began typing information into the computer when she came across some information that made her pause.

FATHER: Lin Manuel-miranda

She read it again and again before summoning her manager to check that she had read it right.

The manager Sarah sighed, " There is protocol for this. Elizabeth will have to have blood work in order to prove what her mother has claimed.  I'll have a summons typed and mailed and when the results are read if she is in fact this man's daughter,  he will be contacted and we will go from ther."

"Yes mam. But, if she is in fact a star's daughter this could cause quite a stir. Afterall he has written Hamilton and it is one of the best broadway plays in history."

Sarah looked down at the secretary,  "That's not our problem. Now, make sure that this is mailed by this afternoon. "

Thanks guys! This is my second story and I appreciate the views. Also, I don't know how court and custody battles work so I'm sorry if I butcher it.
