As odd as yesterday was, he still found it in himself to text me this morning on what time we should head over. Or rather me driving to his house, considering it's closer. He tried to get it to go the other way around, but Merle made a point of needing to sell over the phone. So it was just a win-win for us all.
My mother, as she cleverly pointed out. Wants to do something with the family before the break is over, and that is one of the things I need to tell Daryl before it comes up. Whatever we are doing, it's going to be big considering how much thought my mother put into it. Just wish she'd stop trying to be this perfect image of a parent.
I see the damage every time I look into her eyes, no matter how many times she called me at the girls home or whatever she wanted/needed. The entire ideal was a god damn mess, and here I am now...
Taking ahold of my leather jacket while fixing my crop top in hopes it's not too showy for tonight. It's getting warmer, and me pulling out this old thing is in signal to that.
"Is that boy going to be at the party?" Turning behind me to see my mother, did I just chuckle. Don't know how long she was watching me get ready, but I've been nervous about today ever since Daryl sprung the idea of kids into my head.
It's nerve wrecking, to say the least.
"Daryl? Yeah." "How long have you two been dating?" Turning over to my bed to grab my phone and secure it into my pocket did I bob my head while trying to count the months. "Four months." Her smile widened brightly, to be honest, I was ready for a gasp in response but instead, she sat down on my bed and had me sit with her.
I was worried where this was going now because she looked so serious in— "I haven't had the chance to talk to you about...Some things, and I want to lay down the line before things get too much." In turn, my eyebrows scrunching together was the normal reaction because I honestly don't have a clue what she is trying to warn me. "I was young too sweetie, I know you're just sleeping over at the lake house. And that's better than driving home—" "uh..." The lump in my throat got the better of me. Especially when the voice in the back of my head was Daryl, telling me about all the dirty things we've done. "If this is leading to 'the talk' I've gotten it already." "Do you want to go on birth control fo—" "MOM!" I screamed, getting off my bed now and moving across the room. Not being able to look in the eye as she told me the importance of being protected.
