Sorey Shepherd has been practicing and studying magic tricks since forever. His father passed away when he was a small boy, only 6 years old at the time, his father had been a pretty well know magician. He wanted to be just like him. But no matter where Sorey looked he couldn't find somewhere he wanted to work as a magician.
He had tried public, private, and rental work as a magician, yet he didn't like any of it. Sure the people who hired him liked him, he was a good magician, but he just couldn't imagine himself working anywhere he had tried.
Sorey being 21, good looking, and out going, only talked to one person on a daily basis, who also happens to be his neighbor, Rose. She is a carefree and optimistic person. Little did Sorey know it would be this red headed girl that would find him a job, and a boyfriend.•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Sorey! Open the door!" Rose yelled through the door. Said boy rose sleepily form his bed and walked to the door and opened it reviling Rose practically bouncing out of her shoes. "Sorey! Guess what!"
"What?" Rose paused before answering,
"You know what, actually you stink and your half asleep, go take a shower then I'll tell you." She said while holding her nose.
"What? No just tell me! I can't wait! You seemed so excited."
"Nope go take a shower first, then we'll talk."
"Fine." He ran upstairs, jumped in the shower, took the quickest shower possible, got dressed, and ran back to down to Rose. "Ok, I'm showered. Now tell me!" He was shaking with excitement. He wondered what Rose was so excited about and wanted her to tell him.
"Ok, good. And what I wanted to tell you was, one were going to the bakery down town. Two there is a circus performing this weekend and I got two tickets to it for me and you!" She says waving the two tickets.
"Really?"
"Yeah apparently they have been here a while but I never noticed them, nor do I know anything about them. However, Alisha knows more about them so let's go."
Alisha is Rose's girlfriend, and the owner of the bakery down town. Alisha is really sweet and friendly. Also Sorey could swear that her sweets were the best on the whole island. They were really good.
Sorey grabs his keys, locked up, and followed Rose to the bakery.
"Hey Alisha!"
"Oh! Sorey, Rose, welcome!" She gave them a gentle smile, "What are you guys doing here?"
"Sorey and I have questions about the circus group in town."
"Oh, really? Well then, fire away. Wait, actually let's get some coffee, cookies, and sit down." Alisha grabbed there favorite cookies, the chocolate chip cookies with powdered sugar on top and made some coffee. They took a seat near one of the windows.
"So what do you guys want to know?"
"If these guys were always here why didn't we know about them?"
"Well they weren't very popular till recently."
"What are there acts?"
"A ringmaster, trapezeist, lion tamers, clowns, flame breathers, but they have other smaller acts sometimes."
"Ok, but do they serve snacks?"
"Yes they have plenty of snacks." She chuckles at this. At that answer they seemed satisfied, till Sorey spoke up.
"Wait, how do you know so much about them?"
"Well, I supply circus themed cookies to them, food for practices, and I hang out there sometimes."
"Oh. Ok then."
Sorey and Rose finished they're cookies and coffee, but Rose decided to stay and help out around the shop. Sorey on the other hand had to go shopping.
He left money for the food and ran out of the cozy shop saying his goodbyes to the girls as he went over what he needed in his head.
He walked until he reached the outdoor market. It always had the freshest and best raw foods in Sorey's opinion. He was halfway done with his shopping when he bumped into someone.
They dropped all their papers and books. "I'm so sorry!" Sorey got down and helped pick up the person's stuff. Sorey looked up to see a guy that was about his age with silver hair that had blue on the tips. When looked he up and Sorey handed him his papers he saw that he had black rimed glasses and the prettiest amethyst eyes he had ever seen.
"Thank you." The boy said shyly and walked away before Sorey could say anything more. He was cute. Really cute. And his voice was so soft and cute. His face dusted a light pink. Sorey looked around and tried to find him but he couldn't. He just decided to give up and finish his shopping.
When he got home he put away everything he bought, milk, bread, fruits, a few old books, and a necklace with amethyst charm at the end, it reminded Sorey of the boy he met earlier. Sorey shook his head, he had only just met the boy, he didn't know anything about him, even his name. But maybe that's what peaked his interest.
After everything was put away Sorey didn't know what to do so he went over to his book shelf. Now Sorey's book shelf wasn't a small thing, no, it covered an entire wall in his living room. And every shelf was filled was books, notebooks, and papers. And they were all on the history of this island. History was one of his favorite things. Especially when it came to the history of this island. He would sit for hours and talk to you about it if you let him.
He stated reading his book that he picked out. It talked about old ways people were entertained. It made him think about the circus. It was only Wednesday, how did Rose expect him to wait till Sunday? She got him all excited for it, but now, he didn't know what to do with himself. Maybe he could go to the park? Do more shopping? Read? Hang out with Her and Alisha? For now he decided to keep reading his book. It was the rest of the week that seemed to drag by.
Finally the day came. It was circus time baby! Sorey tried to find his best casual outfit and was already waiting outside Rose's house when she walked out. Little did he know this day was the start of something great.•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
