Reina

She glanced over at the snow covered castle and sighed in awe. The ball was today and she desperately wanted to go.The snow falling in slow motion, the winter breeze slapping against her pale cheeks that was turning apple red. She snapped out of her daze when she heard her mother call her name.

"Reina"

She looked over her shoulders and her dark green eyes connected with dark blue eyes. She looked down at her mother who had called her names several times by now, but not hearing her.

"Reina, come down from there"

Reina carefully retraced her steps down the stairs, afraid of slipping down the icy tree. Safely making it down she dusted off the snow that had covered the front of her pale blue dress, that had small designs on the side of it, Her mother had sewn it for right after her birthday, she was along 10 and 9 winters.

She walked her way over to Her mother walking back into the small crowded town. Her mother rubbed her hands over her arms for warmth. They were about to pass the towns only store until Reina decided to go in and buy something for her mother, knowing that they only had 5 coins left. Her mother told her to come home before the sky turns dark, Reina understood and nodded.

She walked towards the door that was crooked and didn't fit on the frame, but with the town getting broken things from the castle, getting a door was what the towns folk would call treasure. Walking in and smelling fresh bread she glanced down at her ripped shoes, if they were considered that at the point, the top were ripping off, bottom becoming thin. Now able to feel the snow beneath her.

She watched the snow wither away from her boots as she stomped lightly to try and remove the snow. She gave up with a slight huff and walked towards the necklace sections but knocked some charms over. She hurriedly picked them up checking to see if she broke any. Sighing with a relief that none were broken she continued to look for something. She liked a particular necklace that she wanted to buy and looked around remembering that no one was inside.

It was a back door, she was guessing where the storage was placed. She slowly walked over there checking to hear if anyone was in there.

"Hello is anyo-" she yelled but it died down with a whisper. Hearing something she kept quiet and listened.

"-doing it when the Prince comes out tonight during the ball"

"Margie you know that this is preposterous! They won't make it past the guards. They sh-"

"NO! we are treated like the bottom of their boots that they walk on. Somethings need to change"
