Stitched

We're all just a little bit scarred
Fighting battles no one knows of.
Rough round the edges, trying to surf,
When standing still gets us drowned.
In a sea that swallows gentle but flows so rough,
You held my hand and reduced the gulf.
I took yours, intent on keeping hold,
Looking for pearls I struck gold.

I was broken and bleeding, you stitched me up whole.
Tired of everything, but you helped me remain strong.

.......................

We're all just a little bit lost,
Stuck in a loop we can't seem to get out of.
Looking for miracles, lost in the maze,
Are we all resigned to facts that wont change?
Every faint glimmer of hope just another false dawn,
All of us guilty of holding on for far too long.
Repeating mistakes, misplaced faith and high hopes.
You were my salvation, you helped me cope.

I was broken and bleeding, you stitched me up whole.
Tired of everything, but you helped me remain strong.

.......................

We're all just a little bit hurt,
At failing to set ourselves apart.
Dreaming too big and crashing back to Earth.
Everything going against us and we're still surprised.
Over time we forget to laugh but learn to cry.
Get better at hiding our pain and faking a smile.
But with you I could be myself, I didn't have to pretend.
You tended to my bruises, you helped me mend.

I was broken and bleeding, you stitched me up whole.
Tired of everything, but you helped me remain strong.
