it's really happening...

He finally had it all. His girl, his circus, his greatest show. Taking her hand, he nodded and emerged from the smoke along with the group, dancing around to their own synchronized rhythm. "Colossal we come these renegades in the ring!" The people began cheering, wide smiles across each one of their faces; she couldn't help but smile along with Barnum, he was just as cheery as a kid getting candy for the first time in weeks. "Where the lost get found in the crown of the circus king!" She got to the center of the stage, taking her time to dance around Barnum as he continued to speak.
"Don't fight it, it's coming for you, running at you! It's only this moment, don't care what comes after. Your fever dream, can't you see it getting closer. Just surrender 'cause you feel the feeling taking over." She did a small twirl around him, taking his hand, causing him to spin her around and pull him close to his chest. He couldn't help but feel deja vu, his heart beating fast in his chest as he realized this could just be another one of his fantasies.
"It's only this moment, don't care what comes after! It's blinding outside and I think that you know. Just surrender 'cause you're calling..." He chimed in with her compelling voice, lifting her up in the air as the rest of the group flared their arms out to the side, "...and you wanna go!"
Now everyone chimed in, dancing in harmony with each other and feeling the beat pulsing around them, it felt alive. Barnum felt his heart swell with excitement as he looked down into the eyes of his girl, showing just as much excitement in her eyes as his.
"Where it's covered in all the colored lights, where the runaways are running the night. Impossible comes true-"
"Intoxicating you!" She wrapped her legs around him as Barnum lifted her up, placing her hands around her neck and pressing their foreheads together. "Oh, this is the greatest show!" Barnum spun her around until they were dizzy, drunk on laughter and the energy of the room, people cheering, everybody dancing and singing along just in time. It was perfect. Just perfect.
"We light it up, we won't come down! And the sun can't stop us now! Watching it come true, it's taking over you." He placed her down and she took his hat - just like in his vision when he was a little boy. I guess you really can dream up the perfect girl. What if this was a dream? It couldn't be, it felt so real. Then again, most dreams do. He chased her around, dodging the fire and the knives as she disappeared into the crowd. "Oh, this is the greatest show." He sighed, out of breath from the chasing though he could still hear your voice as you chimed in with him.
"It's everything you ever want... It's everything you ever need... And it's here right in front of you. This is where you wanna be!" He could have sworn he saw his vision go blurry, as if in a haze. As if... in a dream.Suddenly, he felt pressure at his back, nearly pushing him forwards. Turning around to see what the source was, he saw her pressed against his back, chiming in along with him. Of course. Barnum had confided in his girl once he felt the need to. He told her of the vision he had, told her of the misfortune he went through; putting her hand on his knee, she reassured him that everything he'd worked so hard at would pay off in the end. She promised he would get his circus, and it may not be perfect, but it'll be ours, and that's really all we ever need. This is what she was doing. She was there, touching him, living in the moment with him. Reassuring him that this was no fantasy.
"It's everything you ever want... It's everything you ever need... And it's here right in front of you! This is where you wanna be!" Suddenly, the spotlight was only on the two of them; she whispered something so faint even the audience had trouble hearing.
"This is where you wanna be." Barnum finally leaned in to kiss his girl, smiling as he did. Some of the crowd cheered at your kiss but it was mostly the group who cheered - clearly, they wanted this just as much as you did. Your relationship wasn't a secret anymore, and she knew of the risks she had to take to be with the man she loves. Dancing in celebration, the group continued to chant along.
"When it's covered in all the colored lights. Where the runaways are running the night. Impossible comes true, it's taking over you. Oh, this is the greatest show! We light it up, we won't come down. And the walls can't stop us now!" They began to stomp, shaking the entire tent and causing Barnum to laugh into the kiss; he held her tightly against him, never wanting to let go. She was his and there wasn't a damn thing anyone could do about it, and she had absolutely no objection to it.
"I love you..." She whispered so only Barnum could hear, and the guesture made him smile brightly. She loved his smile and would do anything to get a good laugh or even a small smile out of him; Barnum loved to make people happy with everything he did, and he deserved to be happy just as much as his guests did. He took her in when nobody else would, and for that she was forever grateful; he'd gotten what he'd wanted, his circus, his girl and everything else he could've dreamed. She'd gotten what she'd always wanted. A home. A proper family. A proper husband.
"I love you..." Barnum replied, smiling as she pressed their foreheads together, sighing in contentment. Giving a sly smile, she shrugged her shoulders up and gestured towards the group who continued to sing and dance to their own tune.
"Shall we go for it?" He nodded and wrapped a rope around his arm tightly, taking her by surprise. Quickly, he grabbed her hip with one hand and tugged on the rope, sending them flying into the air, the audience cheering as you got close to them. Singing to each other, you stared passionately into each others eyes, loving and drinking in the feeling of being so close to one another.
"This is the greatest show!"
And it truly was.
