Chapter 24 Sam

Still in a dream state, thanks to the remarkable and yummy Nickoli, I walked right past Mady at first without seeing her. "Oh. Hey, Mady," giving a half wave as I headed for the stairs.

"Whoa, where are you going? How was the house hunting? You do know you don't have to rush out and buy the first one you see," Mady said, following me to the stairs. Noticing the goofy smile on my face, she asked, "Did you see Dmitri?"

"What? Why would you think I saw Dmitri? Why are you looking at me with that smirk on your face?" I asked; the mere mention of Dmitri had me snap out of my haze.

Shrugging her shoulders, Mady stated, "You always have that goofy grin on your face when you see Dmitri."

Am I that transparent? Guilt hit me hard at the mention of Dmitri's name, I was feeling bad for having such a good time with Nickoli. "Shit!" He would be here soon for their first self-defence lesson, excitement spread through my body like fire chasing the quilt away. Damn, it's been forever since I have been attracted to anyone and now I am practically falling over two guys. If I was really being honest with myself, I need to include the adorable Mason. Ok no need to worry about it now, things will end soon enough, they always do. Now I was lying to myself as well. "I have to go get change before Dmitri gets here."

Mady stepped closer, nostrils flaring, as she started to smell me. What the hell, did I smell? Did I have time for a shower? "Sam, where were you?" Mady was using that "what have you done now" voice.

Confused by the sudden change and the fact that she was just smelled me I answered without a thought. "I was with Bill this morning and we looked at a few houses. After that, I went for lunch at a place called Furball's. I meet the owner, Nickoli, and we had lunch together."

Mady's eyes widened, shoulders stiffened and she stammered, "But...what about Dmitri, even Mason for that matter?"

Understanding her reaction now, I laughed, "Mady it was only lunch. Don't get me wrong, the man is hot, I mean really hot, and I really enjoyed his company. I don't date and have you seen those men? They are absolutely gorgeous and so not in my league. What it comes right down to is I have no interest in dating anyone." Lie, Lie, Lie. "I am in no hurry to replace Mr.-I-Don't-Talk-Back." Letting out a laugh while rushing upstairs to avoid any more questions. Plus I needed a shower. Damn, Mady I do not smell!
