Kai

"Lately, I just feel....anxious, more so than usual. Like something is going to happen and it won't be good."

"How long have you felt like this?"

"I don't know. Since that day we ran into those rich assholes at the park. Have I told you how much they piss me off?"

The guidance counselor chuckled, setting her pen down on top of her open notebook. "Yes, I believe you've mentioned it a few times," she said, the smile still lingering on her face. "These guys, do they scare you? Do you think they're capable of doing something bad to you?"

"Probably." I shrugged and exhaled a quick breath. "Individually, I could take them, but together, they'd kick my ass, as much as it hurts my pride to admit that. Not to mention that they'd probably get off with a warning or blame on it me. Fucking pricks. I hate them."

"In that case, I'm going to recommend you don't engage with them," she said and I gave her a look of disbelief. "I know it's going to be difficult, especially if you don't do anything to them, but at least that way, if they do take things to a violent level, they'll be the ones who make themselves look guilty."

"You make ignoring them sound easier than it will be," I replied, my arms now crossed over my chest.

"It'll definitely be difficult, but just remember the breathing exercises we went over and the different things you can mentally visualize to calm yourself down enough so that you won't do something stupid."

I scoffed, briefly chuckling at her words. "You make me sound like I'm the Incredible Hulk or something," I said, rubbing the top of my shoe against the carpet.

"Well, I'd say you two have some things in common. I know I don't like you when you're angry," she responded, actually earning a short but genuine laugh from me. "Alright, our time is up. Get out of here and stay out of trouble, okay?" she added after she smiled for a moment.

"Yes, ma'am," I said, sighing a little as I stood up from the chair. I said goodbye to her and then left her office, walking down the hall back to my classroom.

Baekhyun

I somehow ended up getting back to the house before Chanyeol did, but not by much because the driver pulled up not long after I had stepped inside. Not thinking much of it, I just took my shoes off and laid them with the others before going up to the bedroom to start on my homework. I had a bit more than I usually would, but it was mostly just assignments that would help me catch up or help my new teachers assess where I was.

Not long after I had settled into a pair of sweatpants and a long-sleeved t-shirt, I went to sit down at the desk when I heard a loud knock on the door. Eyebrows slightly furrowed, I walked over to open it. Before I could even properly register that it was him, Chanyeol came in and pushed me up against the closest wall, the sudden action nearly making me jump out of my own skin.

"What the hell, Chanyeol?!" I said, my heart racing from inside my chest.

"I don't know who you think you are, but I suggest you remember where the fuck you came from," he said, his words only ceasing to further confuse me.

"What are you talking about?" I tried to get him away from me, but he was apparently much stronger than me and only pushed me back against the wall.

"That little stunt you pulled today wasn't funny, even if it made someone as recluse as Kyungsoo laugh," he said and I scoffed under my breath, rolling my eyes. "And then you just completely ignore the fact that we have a ride home and decide to walk without telling me, which led to me waiting for you for ten minutes when I could have been home."

"I didn't mean to offend you, but the way you said it made my dad sound like your property, which he isn't," I explained, very close to dropping the language formalities. "Also, unless you're paying him with money you earned, he doesn't work for you. And why are you so bothered that I walked anyway? I thought you would be happy you didn't have to be around me."

He huffed and moved his face closer to mine. "It's not about that, but my dad arranged for it and you just ignored it and wasted my time. Have you forgotten that he so generously decided to take you in? He didn't have to and if I wanted to, I could have you and your dad thrown out." I clenched my jaw and sealed my lips. "You may be living the high life now, but you're still from that same trashy part of town and that won't ever change. Know your place or else you'll just piss me off even more."

He finally let go of me and left the room, but I kept my back against the wall as I tried to regain some composure and calm down my racing heart. Admittedly, I didn't entirely understand Kai's hatred of them before because I had always managed to stay under their radar. But now that I was their direct target, I was definitely starting to understand why he detested them so much.

Chanyeol

I didn't know what came over me to be honest. I could have looked past the snide comment from that morning, but when I realized that he had just walked home without even giving me a heads up, I was tipped over the edge. Why would he walk when he had a free ride? Why wouldn't he at least tell me? Did any of those questions justify pinning him against a wall? Probably not, but I've always been impulsive and very lacking in the self-control department.

"You guys are really quiet. Did something happen?" my dad asked us at dinner, looking back and forth at us. Baekhyun shot me a look but didn't say anything to him, instead just shaking his head and saying he had a bit of an overwhelming first day. In the midst of their conversation about school, I heard my phone ring from my pocket and instantly picked it up. I knew my dad might say something with his no-phones-at-the-table rule, but it was rare anyone called me, so I felt the need to answer.

"Hello?" I said.

"Chanyeol?" It was Suho. "I've got a problem."

"I figured as much since you called and didn't text. What's wrong?"

"It's Kyungsoo. We can't find him," he said.

I furrowed my eyebrows. "What do you mean you can't find him? Did you check his room? You know how quiet he is."

"We checked every room in the house. He's not here. I don't know what to do. It's not like him to just leave without leaving a note or letting somebody know."

"Okay, meet me at the end of your driveway. We'll walk around and see if we can find him. He couldn't have gotten that far."

"Alright, yeah, let's do that." I hung up after that and stood up from the table.

"What is it?" my dad asked before I could make it to the front door.

"Kyungsoo is missing," I said.

A/N

I have a feeling this story is going to take some time to edit because holy shit, this is worse than I remember lol. Like why were they kissing after knowing each other formally for two days?? Anyway, I gotta shift the plot a little bit, so bear with me lol.
