۩ - Chapter 10

After a few seconds, the tesseract released a burst of energy high up into the sky, opening a portal into space, the horrendous army of Chitauri came seconds later. Diana looked around quickly spotting Stark in his suit, flying up and attacking the soldiers, causing her to smile at his willingness to defend his home.

People on the ground stopped what they were doing and looked up at the chaos going on in the sky, and soon started screaming in terror and running away, storefronts and businesses became set aflame as the creatures begun to wreak havoc on the local areas. Diana quickly lost all interest in what was leaving the portal as her instincts to protect the people took over.

Diana quickly jumped off of the building and angled her body like she was diving, not using any of her superpowers, just gravity to aid in her descent, quickly she reached the ground, tucking herself into a ball and tumbling forwards and up onto her feet, the cloak acting as a cushion.

The woman ripped off her cloak as fast as she could without damaging it then, she then ran in front of a group of people raising her blue and gold shield, blocking them from the Chitauri's blast, and biding them time to run and hide. "Go!" She screamed as another blast hit the shield, Diana moved forward, knocking the creature back, then impaling it with the sword.

Rocking on her heels, she ran for the next one, slicing its head off. Diana removed a piece of hair from her face, sheathing the blade and putting the shield on her back then launched herself forward, and crossed her arms into an 'X' formation, releasing a blast of energy towards the creatures on flying jet-skis, destroying them easily with the lighting and other glowing energy.

The brunette then looked up and saw a quinjet shooting at Loki, and soon started to catch on fire then crash, the pilot only able to manoeuvre one wing, the jet slowed and slammed into the street, only about forty-five metres away from Diana.

Captain America lead the way out of the jet at a slow run with Hawkeye and Black Widow following behind, Clint soon noticed Di, ran over to her and enveloped her in a hug. "I like the outfit." Hawk said playfully.

"Back to your nest, Birdie." She shot back after slapping him up the back of his head. 

"Ow! Super strength, remember?!" He complained, pouting.

"I wasn't even using my strength, you big baby." She claimed, rolling her eyes. Soon Captain America and Nat came over.

"Bellona- Captain Trevor?" The super soldier asked, confused as of why the woman who claimed to be military personnel was wearing metallic armour with a fucking sword.

"Sorry for the deception, you must be the Captain, nice to meet another war hero." Diana said. "I'm Diana, or as some people call me," She looked at Nat and Clint pointedly. "Wonder Woman." She introduced politely.

"War hero?" He asked himself quietly, "The pleasure is all mine, ma'am, and please call me Steve." He said giving her a warm friendly smile that reminded her of a puppy.

"I used to know a man named Steve." The Amazonian stated too quietly for anyone except for her to hear, an upset expression crossed her face quickly before a look of determination appeared. "We cannot continue to let these creatures destroy everything in sight." Diana proclaimed, "You guys have a plan, right?" She then paused, glancing at the group and then back at the portal, "Right?" She questioned, looking at the trio curiously.

"No, but we're working on it." Nat replied.

Diana stared, brown eyes wide with a mix of fear and adrenaline, "I hope to the gods, we'll survive this."

"You said it, sister." Clint replied handing Diana a comm link.

"I'm not your sister." 

The small group then ran forward, searching for another gathering of foot soldiers, and soon stopped to look up at the vortex in the sky, opening wider and wider to release more Chitauri soldiers and a weird, whale-like creature with ease.
