Adventure and excitement; that is war
But is it? Is it really?
What is war in reality?
Is it not blood, sweat and tears?
Is it not sadness and grief?
Is it not pain and peril?
Is it not death and destruction?
Honour and glory; that is war.
But is it? Is it really?
What is war in reality?
Is it not shell shock and trench foot?
Is it not bullets whizzing past?
Blood soaked ground?
Shells exploding all around?
Coming home a hero with all the ladies swooning over you; that is war.
But is it? Is it really?
What is war in reality?
Is it not the agonized call of wounded and dying men?
Is it not kill or be killed?
Is it not bodies left to rot in the trenches?
The able bodied men too busy killing each other to bury them?
Is it not nurses doing all they can to save you?
Is it not the sweet, dark arms of death come to take you?
